About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Whatever comes now. Currently working as a spanish teacher, but open to new projects, ideas, etc. Also, adapting to living in Germany :)
Recently I developed a big interest in (re)discovering my own culture (while I keep on discovering other places, people, languages and ways of living).
ABOUT ME
Funny thing: due to several reasons I hadn't used couchsurfing for several years. I think most of my profile dates back to 2009/2010. Wow, that's a loooong time. It's been quite shocking, but also fascinating, to find out what was I thinking back then. It seems to me that I was quite confused (well, actually those were my literal words).
RIght now I tend not to take things so seriously. These last years have been amazing: I met fantastic people which luckily are part of my everyday life, lived in different countries, learned more languages, rediscovered my own place (Asturias) and enjoyed things quite more. Still from time to time I still ask myself what I'm doing or what I should do in the future, but I embrace doubt as a enriching part of living :)
(About this, I really like Jorge Drexler's song Hermana Duda. I feel quite identified!)
PHILOSOPHY
Wow, my profile was kind of dramatic :) . Those were my words:
"I've always believed that love makes the world works. Love for a person, love for the things you do. But life often dissapoints you and the things that you believed in fall down. Now I'm a bit confused about what I think about the world, but I still think thatnprobably is love what give sense to your life, but who knows?
But yep, love is fundamental. Loving the things that you do, the people that sorrounds you, and trying to love yourself a bit too (which sometimes it's the most difficult part). I think from loving yourself and the others emanates all the other struggles, don't they? The reach for better rights, the aim to change society, imaginate new ways of living in community. Love is a radical political act, even more in a society which you have less and less time to love and enjoy yourself and each other...
Uhm, I think I'm digressing here :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
In october 2016 I will be in Bochum again. I'm still looking for a place to live, so I can't say whether I would be able to host or not. But I'm always open to meet up, explore the city and have a chat with a beer (or without it, of course).
Interests
This is really a broad question. Thinking about my current interests (which may change), I tried to summarize it a little bit with those tags, but it's really hard. And also, sometimes it's just nice to be introduced in other interests and things!
- arts
- literature
- cooking
- beer
- music
- basketball
- anthropology
- sociology
- feminism
Music, Movies, and Books
I don't have much of a filter, I must say. So I'm open to everything!
I've decided to post here the latest things I read, watched or listened to, how does it sound?
Books: The Neverending Story (a must!), Deseo de ser punk (Belen Gopegui), several tales by Cortazar, poems by Pessoa and by the galician poet Manuel Antonio. Currently reading The Wall Jumper by Peter Scheneider and my next reading will be El padre de blancanieves , again by Gopegui.
Music: Andrew Bird, Xabier Diaz, Guadi Galego, Ataque Escampe (I'm in a galician rush), Pauline en la playa, Owen (Mike Kinsella), Arcade Fire...
Films: the last three movies I saw where...Good Bye Lenin, Le Havre and Truman.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My last profile said this:
"Be in love."
Additionally to the incorrect grammar, I do think that's an amazing thing. Living abroad has some amazing things, but it might make you miss many people and things. When I come back to Asturias I feel a lot of affection, and that's wonderful. So yeah, "to be in love", "being in love", or "been in love" (damm, I still have problems with this)...it's an amazing thing, but that's something that hopefully all of us can relate to.
So, what about the really amazing things? Like going to space or making a three store building chocolate cake? None of them. I don't really have many of those experiences, but I enjoy the little things that I live :)
Teach, Learn, Share
I think just sitting and talking it's nice isn`t it? And exploring together a place: I show you my city and you do the same when I visit you. There are always many things to share.
Of course we can cook together, or I can cook for you if you host me. Or I can offer my teaching skills if you are interested in learning spanish, but I sure you can also teach me your language, as well as showing me your culture, the things that makes you laugh, your special places...bottom line, everything that you want to share would be nice, and everything that I can help you with, just let me know!
