About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Revolution.

ABOUT ME

I am a PhD student at the university of Tampere. On my free time I practice martial arts, play guitar, and cook so as to be able to sustain my life for now. I have been told I am good at what I do, but I hold a high standard for myself and thus think the road is still long.

Word on the street is that I come across as slightly arrogant and quite rough. I have also been told that I smell delicious. I am silent and calm most of the time, and I do not talk if I feel I have nothing important to say. People say my face does not betray my thoughts and feelings. Beneath the surface I am softer and gentler than what one would notice at first glance. Or so I have heard.

I admire courage and despise cowardice. Putting things off until they go away is not a proper way of handling them, even if open confrontation is not the best option.

I am allergic to fish, pathologically hate bananas and am diabetic. Contrary to Finnish "culture", I dislike drinking alcoholic beverages. I prefer not to have that stuff in my system, and also would prefer if other people did not drink while at my place. Buying me a beer is not a very bright idea.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is pointless if one does not seek self-improvement. To me it comes through hard work, pain and patience. Things need balancing, though, so there has to be a time and place for relaxation. Admittedly, recently I have had more of the latter than of the former.

Every now and then it is necessary to ask oneself who you really are. This way one has to define and redefine themselves and hopefully learn something about themselves in the process. Finding one's "groove" or "path" in life is perhaps the most important thing there is, and lacking this direction in life causes crises and losing oneself.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I will provide accommodation for one or two people at a time. I will not discriminate against sex, gender, nationality, religion, colour or any other outside factor, because doing so would be silly.

When I surf your couch, you can ask me to cook for you. When you surf my couch, I will cook for you.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I surfed for two weeks in Spain with a good friend. I have hosted so many people I have lost count a long time ago and see no end to it.

CouchSurfing is a magnificent chance for experiencing countries, cultures and people.

Interests

Music, martial arts and philosophy (in no particular order). I know how to play a couple of instruments and enjoy music in many forms. I am very fond of martial arts, from the subtleness of qigong to the brutality of professional wrestling (the good stuff, anyway). I have set myself some philosophical and ethical guidelines by which I live and am in constant search of explanations and truths.

Music, Movies, and Books

Recently I have taken it upon myself to watch films off my to-watch list. Few of them are worth mentioning though. I can enjoy any film, as long as it is a good one.

Unlike earlier, recently I have read so many books it's not even funny anymore. But very few of them have been for entertainment purposes, or something I would recommend to just anyone.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I am not amazed.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you basics of self defence and a bit of the same beyond the basics. I can also give out tips on cooking, massage, music, tumbling and various other subjects.

I want to learn the tumbling move "aerial" (cartwheel without hands). That would be cool. Playing the drums, the bamboo flute and the erhu would also be appreciated skills.

I am always willing to share a nice, hot cup o' tea and views of various matters. Just ask!
