About Me

Hi! I’m Zara, I’m from South London and I live in South Sheffield with my wife Lindsey and our 4 dogs.

I’ve been working professionally with dogs for around 8 years now, I absolutely love it, my world is really working with dogs and learning more about dogs.

In my spare time I enjoy hiking, art, film and cooking. I’m trying to connect with my heritage a little more by learning more about traditional cooking which I’m currently subjecting all my friends too.

I’m definitely happy to try something new, I’m pretty slow life these days, I’m more of a chat over dinner rather than party until 4am and I absolutely love to be outside. I’m not materialistic, you won’t find me in a lease car or in fancy clothes but I won’t judge you if they’re things you like!

My partner is into Silversmithing specialising in chain making, you’d be more than welcome to learn how to make a chain with her.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love meeting new people, you can miss a lot of what a city has to offer if you don't meet any locals.

Interests

I really like learning, it doesn’t matter what it is, if you’re interested in something I want to hear about it.
If I travel to a new country I like to find out about the culture, the art, the food and go for a walk in nature. I’m more of a countryside dweller than a city person these days but I still enjoy a few days in the heart of a city so I can catch up with the local art galleries and museums.

Music, Movies, and Books

I think if I start describing all the films I like we will be here all day, briefly I really like documentaries, horror, dystopian sci-fi, films about day to day life etc.

Book wise, I like dystopian sci-fi, horror and non-fiction, I do like writing too but I will write something and then delete it, I’m not writing for other people.

Music really depends on my mood, my preferred genres are far spanning. I really can’t stand country music though.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Honestly I'm easily amazed. Swimming in Nile was pretty cool!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you some of my heritage cooking and I can also teach you about British food, it’s actually good but you need to eat it fresh and with good quality local ingredients. I really like to share a meal with people that I connect with. I can obviously share with you local places, I don’t drink much but there’s a lot of breweries here, of course we have some of the best hiking spots in the country being right next to the Peak District. I can of course talk dog to you, that’s absolutely my special interest.

More than happy to point you in the direction of someone that can take you climbing or hiking if I can’t make it. Muddy boots welcome here (but not in the house 😀).

What I Can Share with Hosts

I like to spend time and socialise with my guests and my house is not suitable for people looking just for a place to sleep. I will be at work during the day so you will need some independence or you can come to work with me if you love dogs.

I can meet up for a coffee or go for a walk. Whatever is best.

My house is full on with dogs, I have 4 dogs, two are disabled. It’s not a place to visit if you’re scared of dogs I’m afraid. I’m more than happy to meet you without them though.
