About Me
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
For me the love of travelling is closely entertwined with a deep appreciation for the small and human ways in which we can help and share with one another. When I was growing up the park next to our house was a popular spot for backpackers and hitchhikers to wait for their next ride. We had a family tradition that if someone was still waiting at dinner time, we would invite them to our home for a meal and somewhere to spend the night. I have fond memories of conversations around the dinner table learning for the first time of faraway places like the Czech Republic and Denmark, and I think these conversations sparked in me the beginning of a desire to see these places and to learn more about these people from within their own countries and places. So I have grown up with a deep appreciation of the simple kindness of trusting and opening your home to a stranger, and how these exchanges can be mutually enriching and eye opening.
