About Me

Hi, I’m Zara 🌸 (I’m also trans and currently starting HRT, which is part of my journey right now). A traveller with a suitcase often packed for the opera. Music, especially Wagner and classical repertoire, is at the heart of my life, and many of my journeys are inspired by performances around the world.

Friends describe me as spontaneous, trustworthy, and kind. I love sharing laughter, good food, and deep conversations. Whether I’m cycling up a mountain, discovering a new gallery, or sipping wine after a performance, I try to live with warmth and curiosity.

Philosophy

Life is like a great piece of music - full of challenges, beauty, and moments of stillness that make it worthwhile. I try to see the good in every situation and connect with people through culture, kindness, and conversation.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because travel is not just about places - it’s about people. Couchsurfing feels like an extension of what I already love: meeting others who are open-minded, curious, and passionate about sharing experiences.

Interests

🎭 Opera & Classical Music (I often plan trips around performances, from Wagner in Bayreuth to new productions across Europe)

🚴 Cycling (I’ve ridden the length of the UK and love the freedom of exploring on two wheels)

✈️ Travelling (museums, new cities, hidden gems)

📚 Reading with a good drink in hand

🍷 Wine, food, and spontaneous conversations with friends

I’ve also come out as trans and recently started HRT. This journey has deepened my sense of authenticity, and I value kindness, respect, and genuine connection in the people I meet.

Music, Movies, and Books

🎶 Music: My first love is opera - Wagner especially, but also Mozart, Strauss, and Shostakovich. I often travel specifically to hear great performances. Beyond opera, I enjoy classical music in general, but I’m also into other sounds: from 80s/90s pop to rock, reggae, and hip-hop.

🎬 Movies: I enjoy films that are entertaining and immersive - from classics to good comedies and the occasional blockbuster. Something that can sweep me away or just make me laugh.

📚 Books: I read widely, from history and philosophy to contemporary fiction. I also love books that explore identity, culture, and transformation.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I cycled across the UK from bottom to top and it was incredible and I got to see places of this country that I don’t think most Londoners or visitors would experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I can share my love of opera and classical music with anyone curious — I’m good at making it approachable even if you’ve never been before. I can also share cycling tips from long-distance rides (like crossing the UK).

Learn: I love learning languages, hearing local stories, and discovering how people live day to day.

Share: Good conversation over wine, cycling stories, and a sense of humour.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook a simple meal, bring a bottle of wine, share stories from my travels, and always be respectful of someone’s home. I’m easygoing and independent but also love spending time with people if they’d like company.

Countries I’ve Visited
