About Me

Direct contact: WhatsApp/Telegram +79139483535.

I'm still alive and kicking! I live in Chumphon town right now, finally I've got my own place, so I can host again. Please, read carefully the information in "Read more" section below "Accepting guests" note .

“And when nobody wakes you up in the morning, and when nobody waits for you at night, and when you can do whatever you want. What do you call it, freedom or loneliness?” ― Charles Bukowski

Who am I.

I am Russian, was born in Kazakhstan, lived in East Siberian Yakutia from age 5 to 17, and studied Russian at school with a teacher who was Kazakh by ethnicity (sounds very funny, but at the time it was normal). As a child, I visited summer camps in the very east of the USSR (Vladivostok) and the very west of the USSR (Moldovan-Romanian border). As a child, I took a train every year from Yakutia to Kazakhstan and back for 3 days each way. Also as a child, I crossed over 7000 km across the country by car together with my parents. So traveling is in my blood, and I find it difficult and boring to sit in one place for a long time.

I walked 500 km twice along the Lycian Way in Turkey, crossed the island of Cyprus 250 km by feet, cycled through Thailand, Malaysia, and Laos on a folding bike, sailed in Thailand on a self-built sailing catamaran and did many other weird and crazy things :).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think the country is not the hot spot in the "TOP10 must-see things" in travel guides, but the people who live there are. Getting to know the locals and trying to understand their way of life a little bit - is why I use CS when I travel. As a traveler, I use CS to meet different people in different places, and to find all the colors and sides of life, and CS gives me flexibility when traveling.

Remembering all the people I met and welcomed, I try to give back all the warmth I got from my hosts to my guests. CS is really like a huge wheel of kindness and hospitality, and I try to keep it running.

Interests

My passion is any kind of outdoor activity: hiking, biking, sailing, rafting, camping, canoeing and paddleboarding.

I love working with my hands in my workshop, building, repairing things, fixing things that can be fixed, reading books, and keeping myself in shape. I don't really like big cities, I prefer the countryside and nature. I like my dacha and the simple life there in the summertime, planting vegetables and making the place.

I prefer simple food. More veggies, less meat, I'm flexitarian so I can eat exactly what I have right now (Have meat only? Go for meat! Have carrots only? Go for a carrot!) and have no mental/health food restrictions, which makes my travel life very easy. I haven't watched cable TV in 20 years. I don't drink alcohol, I don't smoke, and I try to live a healthy lifestyle as much as possible, but I'm not obsessed with "super healthy lifestyle" at all.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Did 20 day sup-board paddling journey Koh Chang - Koh Mak - Koh Kood in Thailand in April 2022. Got a lot of hardcore and fun. Love it!

Hiked three 4,000-metre mountains in Turkey in ten days in September 2019.

Hiked 350km/23 days along the Lycian Way in Turkey in March 2017.

Hiked 400km/30 days along the Lycian Way in Turkey in October-November 2017.

Hiked 200km/14 days in Northern Cyprus in December 2016.

Did a self-built sailing catamaran trip with my family to Thailand in the winter of 2011/2012.

Four winters of family education for my daughter while travelling abroad. It wasn't easy, but we did it!
