About Me

"Hoping for the best, prepared for the worst, and unsurprised by anything in between."

-- Maya Angelou, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings

I'm Zahra - the shining one -

Music means the world to me and I love being able to catch as many shows as I can. I moved to Europe in 2016 for a two-year masters and I found my way to Berlin, one of my favorite cities. I often like meeting new people and talking to them about their life experiences. I love learning new things and my life basically revolves around movies and music or curling up in bed with a nice book. I'm generally a quiet person and easy to get along with.

I have worked as a copy-editor in one of Pakistan's leading English newsrooms by day; music journalist chasing musicians for stories by night.

I'm now done with my Erasmus Mundus masters in journalism from Aarhus University and Hamburg University and work for a journalism start up in Berlin. Still trying to figure out many things. The older I get the less certain I am about anything. But I have no idea where life will take me while I figure out how to live life as an immigrant in this part of the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To make new friends and explore the world. We only have one planet we get to live in (so far) and I want to try my best to explore all of it.

Interests

Hm I don't know where to begin. As mentioned before I'm crazy about music. And my other interests also include films and photography. I'm a big movie buff, trying different types of cuisines and pretty architecture. That's one of the main reasons why I love Europe. The architecture style is my favorite!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My first Roskilde Festival experience was in the summer of 2018. I went there as a volunteer and one of my shifts was an all-nighter security shift. I was pretty exhausted and zoned out by 5am when a festival goer, tripping on mdma, came up to me, gave me freshly made pommes (fries) and went home.
