Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My experience with couchsurfing is, so far, fairly limited. I usually end up doing last minute trips, and it's often difficult to get a host on short notice like that. I also live in an area that doesn't necessarily draw the most surfers. I do, however, interact with some other local CSers for random events and you can also see the references for my experiences surfing and hosting.

Interests

I really enjoy outdoor activities from driving down an unknown road to hiking an unknown trail. As the saying goes, I'd consider myself a jack of all trades but a master of none. With that in mind, things I enjoy that I am not particularly good at are football, soccer, tennis, kayaking, wakeboarding, snowboarding, and probably some others. I'm also currently working on a private pilot license, as well as hoping to get back into scuba diving soon. I do enjoy when I travel, though some of the magic has worn off over the years. I've found that you don't necessarily need to leave your figurative "backyard" to have a memorable experience. When I'm not outside, I enjoy watching tv/movies, playing board games, and having spirited conversations regarding politics, philosophy, or engineering.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like most kinds of music (with the exception of heavy metal) though I tend to listen to country above other types. Movie-wise, I like comedies, thrillers, and documentaries. I don't read as much as I used to, but when I do, it tends to be either science fiction or non-fiction.

Flying in microgravity was pretty cool.
