About Me

I'm a 26 years old computer science student who took a couple of years off of school to work and travel to New-Zeland. I just finished 11 month there and I am now back in France, settling for the year in a new town: Montpellier. So far I've mainly been using my brain (or fingers, with programming and all) in the past, so I am quite glad that last year took me outdoor to hike, dive or climb. I have every intention on keeping that trend going!
I discovered I loved driving while on a 17days road trip all around California and six months on the road in New Zeland just confirmed it. Being kinda nomad has been a long time dream.
I also love reading, watching movies and listening to music and I've been quite active in students activities like the A/V club or our own web radio.
After many years without sports (considering moshing doesn't count) I've taken up kendo and intend to keep at it! Diving and rock climbing have also become gret interests of mine, although I am just starting at rock climbing... Definitely wanna start skydiving when I get the chance.
Obviously I also love travelling, sometimes only feeling at home when on the road...
I am vegetarian, I don't drink alcohol, nor do I smoke but it doesn't mean I'm a social outcast and I think I can still have a pleasant time and fun!
Also, I spend a lot of time thinking about social justice issues regarding gender, race, sexuality etc...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I really like this way of travelling: you get to meet interesting people, share experiences or simply help one another out, which is always great.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm really bad at picking names so I'll just throw some of them out here and tell you that I'm always open to new discoveries!

Music: Tool, Deftones, In Flames (before 2008), Arctic Monkeys (AM), Foals, Angel Haze, Eminem (guilty pleasure), Hole, Bjork, Enter Shokari, Girls in Hawaii, Cult of Luna, Mogwai, French punk scene (Guerilla Poubelle, Justin(e),...), Dropkick Murphys, Crystal Castle,... I'm trying to look for and find out more female fronted or all-female bands...

Movies: ThePiano, Short term 12, Aronofsky's, Lynch's, Kubrick's, Under the skin, Her, Whip it, Scott Pilgrim, Star Wars Original Trilogy (Force Awaken is pretty good too), Dolan's... Really hard to get a proper list out here... I'm trying to focus more on LGBT+ cinema and/or movies directed by women. Always up for some advice!

TV Series: Breaking Bad, Orange is the new black, The Wire, How to get away with murder, Community, Parks and Recreation, Sense 8, to name but a few of my favorites.

Books: I can't really do a list. I guess I like Sci-Fi and fantasy as much as the next computer person (who said cliché?) but I also like more traditional literature like Hubert Selby Jr, Jean Giono, Boris Vian...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Touring Donegal walking or hitch-hiking.
Travelling through the desert in Chile and Bolivia.
Climbing Villarica's volcano in south Chile.
The number of amazing things I've done in New Zealand are starting to pile up, but skydiving on Fox Glacier and diving in Milord Sound and Poor Knight Island are serious candidate for the top thing! An overnight stay at Mueller hutt in Aoraki National Park was amazing. I miss NZ's South Island...
All the caving I've done, learning how to skydive...

Teach, Learn, Share

Hm. Could teach about maths or fundamental computer science. Not sure I could teach anything else precisely even though I have vague knowledge in physics, philosophy and history (decreasing order!)
If you don't feel comfortable with your computer, I might be able to give you a hand on specifics problems... Just ask!

I can teach you how to cook crepes!

What I Can Share with Hosts

A good talk on movies (not pretending to be an expert, though) and some computer help...
We could go rock climbing at the gym! Or scuba diving in the sea...
