One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Going to Mexico for summer programme on a whim :) Year 2 summer vacation in 2012. Results of this amazingly crazy trip (considering I haven't set foot on Europe yet):

1) intentionally route from Singapore to Mexico City through Paris to take a ride on AF's newish A380 (which was scrapped in favour of a normal B777 later on, so that was a rare treat)

2) 1st day in Mexico City: getting lost in the diverse range of colonial and pre-colonial artwork in the National Anthropology Museum while fellow Singaporeans were waiting (haha not that bad)

3) Most exotic lunch ever: half a crisply roasted kid goat with 2 new friends, who are familiar with the specialty from their native Monterrey

4) Breaking a 600-peso sandstone Aztec Calendar after it broke through the paper bag near the Frida Kahlo museum. First shopping trip failed.

5) Meeting a fellow hostel mate from Singapore at the Teotihuacan pyramids

6) Getting a fish made of balloons out of the blue at the town square in San Cristobal de las Casas

7) Safely walking through the streets alone in Mexico, whether going to buy tacos near the hotel in Mexico City, going to the Amber Museum opposite the hotel in San Cristobal, or going to explore the port at Playa del Carmen. Myth of dangerous Mexico partially debunked (although you should never try that in Tijuana)

8) having a great time on the Mayan Route, with a diverse bunch of friends from all around the world
