Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
i'm really working to not focus on the material goods of life but on the moments of truth. i've taken to bartering as much as possible, thrift stores that accept trade, bartering websites. there is liberation when you realize things are just things. there is no need to over consume; we need much less than we think we do.
The people I have met on here are truly treasures. I believe connections with people are the riches of life, and I already feel incredibly wealthy.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've surfed in Tennessee, Arkansas, Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Puerto Rico, Vieques, The Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Sweden, Germany, Denmark, Belgium, Switzerland, and Panama! I've hosted in Tennessee, Chicago, and Berlin! I am so excited about getting to know more amazing couchsurfers and reconnecting with all my past ones!

Music, Movies, and Books
i really enjoy distinctly southern things---that show the cultural highlights and lowlights of what it means to live below the mason-dixon in the USA--it is a completely different world!
currently i'm into short stories--
flannery o'conner, eudora welty, truman capote
music and movies we'll discuss over some drinks!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
i swam in a bioluminescent bay in Vieques. it's best seen in pitch black darkness, with no moon---it's like swimming through liquid stars!!
went cliff diving with my couchsurfing host in Barranquitas---what an adrenaline rush!
i was in Grant Park in Chicago on election night to see Obama arise victorious. it was an amazing mix of races, cultures, and languages, and everyone was incredibly optimistic about life and the future. had great conversations with complete strangers and passed around a bottle of wine as we talked of our hopes and dreams.
**okay, i know that's three things, but life is too short to narrow yourself!!
Teach, Learn, Share
the best thing we can teach each other is languages, the best thing to learn is culture, and the best thing to share is a drink : )
