Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
to save the world through experience, understanding, and compassion.
ABOUT ME
I'm a fully recovered former Mormon who has come to love and embrace the strange state of Utah. I'm licensed to bartend and can easily be persuaded to mix you a drink. I love nature. I dislike washing dishes. I'm proud to be a vegan, and I tend to 'promote' veganism in everyday conversation, so please tell me if it gets annoying and I won't be offended.
PHILOSOPHY
There are no enemies. Only friends we don't know yet.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've had several strangers and many friends couchsurf at my place over the years. Often just for a night or two, and once for as long as several months.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I recently returned from a trip through Europe during which we stayed with three different couchsurfing hosts, all wonderful people. I hope to live up to their examples as a host!

Music, Movies, and Books
Films: I love dramas, intellectual films, artistically stunning films, and 'thinkers'. My top films of all time include American Beauty, Royal Tennenbaums, Fight Club, Amelie, Lord of the Rings, Mirrormask, Shawshank Redemption, Water...
Music: I listen to random bits of this and that. I can't categorize it, since I like some of pretty much any genre. Some favorite bands: The Cure, Sigur Ros, Bjork, The Ramones, Mogwai, The Beatles, Tori Amos, Bob Marley, Sisters of Mercy, Frank Sinatra... I also really love music from India and the Middle East.
Books: I work in books. I read several at a time, both fiction and non-fiction. I don't have a favorite book, so rather than making a list of titles, let me say that I like fantasy, magical realism, fiction that isn't too junky or too brutal, political books, philosophy, and books on religion and sociology and such. I'm currently reading Confessions of a Pagan Nun, One Hundred Years of Solitude, and The Glass Bead Game.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've kayaked in the Great Salt Lake. After the water dries, a layer of salt coats your skin. (Don't drink the water!)
I went to an all-night bonfire party in Norway during the summer, when the sun doesn't go down. But I fell asleep before midnight. I was only 6 at the time.
Teach, Learn, Share
Want to learn about mormonism from someone who isn't trying to convert you? Want to learn about veganism from someone who.... is probably trying to convert you? well then, I'm your girl.
If you know how to play the tin whistle and can help me work on some fingering tricks or teach me a song, I'll be very grateful.
