About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Enjoying life.
ABOUT ME
I'm an anthropologist living in Amsterdam, which is amazing since even my daily walks to the local grocery store are incredibly scenic. However I do love to get out and explore too! I am happiest when I'm crossing the Icelandic wilderness in a 4wd and find a shark jaw on a volcanic beach, randomly end up in a surf hostel outside of Lisboa and spend the next couple of days learning how to surf, or get caught up in the madness of a group of partying Irishmen at their local goat-celebrating festival.
Whenever I go somewhere, I wonder about the people there; how they live, and what they do and think. I like to get to know places through the people that live there, and CS is the perfect opportunity for that.
Though I'm done studying, the subject of anthropology never ceases to interest me, and I'm especially into matters of gender and sexuality, power, and care and medicine.
I've dyed my hair in almost all the colors of the rainbow, but unfortunately the dye didn't stick to my hair anymore in the end, so I cut it all off and started anew. I love colored hair though!
Also, as I've noticed this can be useful information for hosts: I'm a vegetarian. But of course I don't expect you to cook anything for me!
PHILOSOPHY
Prejudices are the chains forged by ignorance to keep men apart.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on here because I really like the concept of connecting with locals and see a place through their eyes. Of course as a host it's nice to meet people from all over the world, too! CS has furthermore proven to be a good source of travel buddies in the past couple of years. When I'm travelling, I like to leave without anybody I know, but meet up with new people on the way.
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
In the past years I've hosted every now and then. I don't always have time or space, hence the maybe status. I went on couch surfing trips myself twice in Ireland, and once in Norway, Portugal, Iceland, Slovenia and Brazil. It was lots of fun!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Been to meet-ups, hosted and surfed lots of times.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Couch surfing for the first time in Ireland a couple of summers ago. It was totally awesome, I met so many different people and had an overall great experience. I went on cultural tours through Cork, spent three days partying at a festival celebrating a goat in a Kerry village, saw Funghi the dolphin in Dingle, and got to experience some magnificent nature and music in another Kerry village. It definitely made me want to go couch surfing more often and meet more amazing people!
Also I went whale watching in Iceland two years ago and since I'm a huge ocean life nerd it was a dream come true to see real whales swimming around!
Teach, Learn, Share
I can't really think of a special skill I have, but at least I could try to teach you a bit of Dutch language and history. I really enjoy learning languages, so I'm always up for teaching and learning them. I'm currently learning Norwegian. I can talk about anthropology if you're interested. I can also ice skate, cook, tell you everything about diabetes...
