About Me

I am a fiend for hearing new music, an endless analogy factory, and I live to connect with others. Tell me your stories, teach me your skills, share your world. I WILL remember you way down the line when your social network is clogged with blended introductions.

Couchsurfers easily have travel in common, but what we each take from it (and give back) cannot be more unique from one to the next. Every new face is an opportunity to discover how, yepppp.

Joie de vivre + l'appel du vide

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

This is preaching to the choir - the inimitable experience of travel is best done by diving right in, discovering a new land through the lens of a local. The same is true for hosting. It provides the opportunity to meet new people and learn more about the world, as well as discover new aspects of one's own city.

I've surfed all over the place, spreading the word and hosting when I have space. I'm also pretty active in the NYC community now, so come find me!

Interests

Coffee/guayusa/mate/tea, making quick notes in my phone for sober-Zev to find, heat waves, international bus/trainrides, languages, neurology, smirks, brews, ethology, endorphines, rye whiskey, vicious cats, international fanta/mentos sampling, connecting, creating, not listing all my interests.

Music, Movies, and Books

My musical taste is vast and varied, from all over the world, so check out my playlists on Spotify for a good idea: https://open.spotify.com/user/zevzevzev

Examples: Kaizers Orchestra, La Femme, Dengue Fever, Gogol Bordello, Rupa & the April Fishes, Sigur Rós, Anakronic Electro Orkestra, Ella Fitzgerald, Fat Freddy's Drop, The Knife, Die Antwoord, Amadou & Mariam, Ana Tijoux, Herbaliser, Black Keys, Édith Piaf, Biggie, RJD2, Kate Bush, O'Death, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Beth Hart, Florence + the Machine, Rasputina, Rolling Stones, NIN, Mozart, Nancy Sinatra, Iron Maiden, Johnny Cash, Joan Jett, Bob Marley, Cat Empire, Crystal Castles, Tom Waits, Calle 13, Bomba Estéreo, Immortal Technique, Onra, Movits!, Nina Simone, Bach, Iced Earth, Childish Gambino, etc.

Movies: Most genres from all over - surreal, time-travel/sci-fi, historical fiction, depressing existential, action/psychological thrillers - ask me this in person.

Books: Graduate school/work/travel has led to a disproportionate collection of neuroscience literature and books on NYC/travel/languages. Aside from that I like sci-fi, adventure, social commentary, and the inside of my eyelids.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Visited almost 70 countries and counting without getting jaded. Stories are better told in person - I have plenty and I hope you do as well!
