Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My wife and me hosted people from all parts of the world when we lived in Moscow. Most of them contacted us via her account (@btromanova).
I lived in Malaysia in 2007 and 2011. My location was very inconvenient so only one person in two years agreed to stay at my place.
Since Dec 2014 we moved to the the Netherlands. Initially our conditions were not very welcoming and later we had a daughter so it became even less manageable.
Now it's coronavirus so we hesitate to have guests. Besides we both work from home so it would not be very convenient anyway.
Interests
I love all kind of things. I tend to change my hobbies very often. Among the long-standing interests are piano and foreign languages. I started learning about world religions recently, particularly Islam and, partly because of that, arabic language.
I am also a computer geek, still have feelings toward math and science.
I can juggle and ride a unicycle. Used to be good at it but don't have much time to keep it up.

Music, Movies, and Books
I am a fun of Woody Allen, love most of his movies. There are many other directors and actors I like, too many to list them all, but here is what comes to my mind first: Jamie Uys (The Gods Must be Crazy), Akira Kurosawa, Chen Kaige, Wong Karwai, etc.
I like classical music. My favorite composer is probably Chopin, but I pretty much like most of the romantic composers. I don't mind baroque music either: Scarlatti, Bach. From the later period Debussy, still later - Stravinsky and even a little bit Schoneberg. Love Jopline's ragtimes. In jazz - Oscar Peterson, Chick Corea, Gary Burton, Nikolay Kapustin.
My favourite book is Madam Bovary by Flaubert. I also enjoy Victor Hugo, Jane Austen, Voltaire, Pushkin, Tolstoy. Among less known authors: Kok Seng, Chinua Achebe.
Non fiction books I liked the most: Born a Crime by Trevor Noah, books about religion by Reza Aslan. I am totally ok with the "lightweight" philosophy by Allain de Botton.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach theory of computation and computational complexity. Only basics though.
Happy to learn foreign languages.
