About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To train my roommate's cat >:D

ABOUT ME

I love the little things in life, and I can get pretty excited about them. I think it's important to live in the moment, but not for the moment. Also, I love experiencing different things, I don't think there's always such a clear distinction between a "good" time and a "bad" one, they're usually just different & I like to make the most out of it. I like to think that life can be an adventure.

I have a really hard time staying in one place for too long, and my friends all like to joke about me being a drifter, etc. I love the people in my life, and spend a lot of time with them - and probably spend more time staying different places than at home. I love it, though - being exposed to different opinions and following different lifestyles always keeps me on my toes, and keeps me living in the moment instead of getting sucked into a routine. I like to think it makes me more aware of the way I choose to live my own life.

PHILOSOPHY

The qualities I most respect and want to embody are awareness, open-mindedness, compassion, and fearlessness. The ability to face life, open to the opportunities that arise, without being held back by uncertainties... helping others when possible, and living and loving fully - that's the kind of life I want to lead. And I never want to be without a sense of wonder and excitement about life. :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I don't have much official couchsurfing experience through the CS website, but I'm pretty renowned for it here at home! I have tons of non-site related experience here in Alaska. I've also met several people on/through the CS site. :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't normally watch a lot of television or movies - I haven't had cable at home in awhile, and I have a motivation problem when it comes to starting movies. Some of the ones that I like include: anything with Audrey Hepburn <3, Love, Actually, Gattaca, A Clockwork Orange, some Disney movies, and Grave of the Fireflies. And I love Japanese dramas! They're kind of my guilty pleasure. (I think it's a great way to study... although I hear that Korean dramas are far better, but I refuse to watch them and spoil the ones I already watch!)

Music.... ah, I like a little bit of everything. I guess if I had to pick a kind I return to more than others (my comfort music?) it would be like 90s Alt. Rock? Like the sound of Matchbox 20 and Fuel and 3 Doors Down and bands like that?

I don't have as much time to read as I used to (well, I haven't made it as big of a priority). Right now I'm trying to read the Chronicles of Narnia in Spanish. I thought it would be good practice, I'm actually really enjoying it. I like a lot of classics, too, there's just something really compelling about some of the older, timeless stories.
