About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to get out of college

ABOUT ME

I am cook at a local coffee shop here in Kalamazoo, MI. I love to learn new things about making food, kitchen banter, working hard, and creating simple, enjoyable things for people to eat.

I love music (seeing, listening, playing), reading, and cooking. I like to work out - running, cycling, mowing grass, doing lots of dishes, lifting weights, ice skating.

I'm a very friendly and laid back person. I'm sure everybody says that about themselves, but I'm not kidding. I think I'm pretty easy to talk to, and I am a low-impact houseguest/host.

PHILOSOPHY

One of the most important lessons I've learned in life is how to laugh at myself. I try not to take myself too seriously, because being uptight is no way to go through life.

I also fully believe in empathy and compassion. Humans are capable of so many things, and such a wide range of emotions and thoughts. It is up to the individual to decide what they fill their mind and time with. Many people fill theirs with negativity. I try so hard not to do that, and to encourage others not to as well.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have surfed, spending the weekend in Chicago at a guy named Bob's house whilst visiting for my birthday one year. It was fantastic, and he and I are still in touch!

Interests

Reading nonfiction, sci-fi, playing piano, listening to music, seeing live music (especially jazz!), recycling, trying to figure out what is going on in this crazy world.

I read a lot about Hurricane Katrina/NOLA stuff, cognitive development, human evolution, primates.
