CURRENT MISSION

My current mission is to write a mission objective that is so creative, inspiring and kick-ass that Hosts will be fighting over me like sharks in a feeding frenzy.

ABOUT ME

If you asked my best friends about me they would ask who are you and why you're asking questions. These are my best friends, so they value my faith in their discretion. They would look at you warily, too. But what you should do is get them a little drunk first, off their guard. Then you ask some leading questions, as if you and I are already acquainted. By around beer #5 they'll tell you all sorts of embarrassing stories - the bastards! Like about my Peter Pan complex, my inability to simultaneously sing and keep time with a tambourine or that time at a wedding reception when they had to carry me up three flights of stairs and I wouldn't stop mumbling "...baby, baby, baby..." for the next 2 hours. They might also complain that I don't take the right things seriously enough.

PHILOSOPHY

I like cats. They are independent, they take pleasure in simple things, and no matter how you throw them they land on their feet. That's how I like to live.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My best couch surfing type of experience has to be the 8 months I spent as a nanny for my friends' little boy. I got to play with Thomas the Tank Engine for hours every day. I was also on hand for the home birth of the second baby. Human placentas have a fascinating texture.

Interests

Interests? Cars coming at me really fast are an attention grabber. Really, now that I think about it, anything moving quickly in my direction gets noticed. This one time a friend of mine took me to see Blue Man Group in NYC. -SPOILER ALERT!- There is this one scene where the Blue Men are delicately slapping a big, wobbly mold of Jell-O when - BAM!!! - all of a sudden it gets catapulted into the audience, directly at my friend and me. Not some graceful, home-run style trajectory either, but a Jell-O rocket. Like Neo dodging bullets in the Matrix, we separated and the Jell-O missile went past us and splatted smack-dab into the couple behind us. I felt awesome! The friend who I was with is a circus acrobat, but yours truly is just some regular schmuck with no agility training, just keen reflexes. I sucked at dodgeball as a kid but when it's life-or-death...
Also I like reading. 3 favorite books: If on a winter's night a traveller by Calvino, Shantaram by Roberts and Papillon by Charrière.

Music, Movies, and Books

The "vengeance" films of Park Chan-wook are way up high in my favorites category as are the films I've seen by Nicolas Winding Refn. Donnie Darko, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Weird Science, Inception, Yellow Submarine.

I just finished reading The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón - deeply satisfying. I'm devoted to living the life of James Bond from reading the original novels by Ian Fleming.

Drum and Bass and 70's Funk and Soul get my booty shaking. I'm also a head-banger from back when Warrant first sang about Cherry Pie and nowhere on Earth do I feel more comfortable than in a goth/fetish club. My favorite song, always and forever: "Love Will Tear Us Apart" by Joy Division.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

As a massage therapist for over a decade I've actually had more than my fair share of special moments. They are very similar to each other: I'll be in the zone during a massage and all of a sudden this rush of energy runs through me and I realize how lucky I am to be alive and doing what I do. And then I feel a profound sense of love for the person I'm giving the massage to and grateful that I can share something so worthwhile.

I also once saw another circus friend get struck by lightning. He was lightning-struck, I was awe-struck.

Teach, Learn, Share

I got my initial certification as a massage therapist in Las Vegas in 1999. Second only to getting a vasectomy, massage school was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Primarily, I perform trigger point therapy and I really enjoy teaching others that maintaining their health and well-being this way is very easy through massage.
