About Me

Hi there! I'm an aspiring traveler with curiosity for other cultures, languages, and ways of life. Currently residing in Brooklyn, New York, I am more and more longing to escape into nature.

My interests include music of all kinds (currently hooked on various indie artists but into it all), creative writing, cooking, small-batch beers, coffee, reading (mostly fiction), learning languages, animals, and running. Recently, I've become addicted to yoga. I play some ukulele from time to time.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have heard many good things from past/current couchsurfers about their experiences. My favorite travel experiences have been when I stayed with a friend in their home city. I see couchsurfing as an extension of that kind of experience, and an awesome way to meet interesting people I would have otherwise never encountered.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: https://open.spotify.com/user/1231806404

Books: I love novels, although I write short stories. It's weird. I like Zadie Smith, Karl Ove Knausgaard, Clarice Lispector, Haruki Murakami, and more. I also enjoy non-fiction when presented in a personal, story-telling way, for instance Moustafa Bayoumi's "How Does It Feel to be a Problem?" I read cover to cover, and it is 100% true.

Movies: I like indie films. The messier and more like real life it is, the better.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I don't know if it classifies as amazing, but I picked up and moved to New York from North Carolina without much of a plan. It was both terrifying and thrilling. I'd love to do it again with some other place.

Teach, Learn, Share

I basically have no hard skills, that's why I work in Customer Support. I could do some elementary conversation in French. It's what I studied in university and I still love it, despite not using it for my work.

There is always room to learn about other people's experiences. I want to hear your story, whoever you are.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Suggestions for things to do if you visit New York.

French language practice (I need it too).
