About Me

I'm Zoe, a Californian who's been on the road of and on for the last three years. I've mostly been in different parts of Asia these past years, with the exception of some trips to South America and Europe. I really love exploring new places, getting to know their culture and history and atmosphere, and meeting people from all over and sharing ideas and company. :)
I grew up in northern California for most of my childhood, until my family uprooted and moved to Hawaii for a year, before moving yet again back to California. This time to the south (San Diego area), where I still consider home base as of now. I have a strong connection to the ocean, but I love all natural environments. I have a great appreciation of the Earth and our surroundings, and try to live as environmentally friendly as possible. I like to think I am a fairly positive and open minded person, I enjoy the company of others and strongly believe in the power of kindness and generosity. I love creating connections with others and spreading love and positive energy. I really like being active and doing activities, but I also really love my time to chill and be a sloth. I love anything art related, I don't think there's a medium of art I don't enjoy (except maybe country music haha). And I absolutely love yoga and music, they make my world go around. I love exchanging music with people and finding new tunes to love! Oh I forgot about food, I am definitely a foodie. I love eating it, thinking about it, talking about it, making it, anything to do with food. It's a great way to connect.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I originally came on Couchsurfing to meet new people and also save some pennies while on a trip. But I continue to do it because I absolutely love all the experiences I've had so far through Couchsurfing, and would love to make more! It's so awesome to come to someone's home and share ideas and learn about their life and what makes them the person they are. I've learned so much about people and places as well, and I feel been able to share so much as well and make some really awesome connections. I also love cooking, and it's so fun to be able to use a kitchen!

Interests

Mainly anything to do with being outside; hiking, walks, beaches, forests, you name it. The feeling of the sun shining on your face is one of the best in the world. My yoga practice is the love of my life. I also I like to stay active, I get a little stir crazy if I stay still for too long. Reading and music are my favorite forms of entertainment, but I enjoy a good movie too. Any form of creating, from painting to drawing to writing and on I enjoy, it is so satisfying to add to the world. Singing and dancing I enjoy, although I am not very good at either. And when it comes down to it, I am a very curious person, and love to try out new things.

Music, Movies, and Books

This is a hard one for me to answer, but I will just mention some of each that I fancy.
I love many types of music, but I would have to say some of favorite genres are rock, pop, funk, motown, alternative, and reggae. David Bowie, The Police, Led Zeppelin, Nicola Cruz, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, Al Green, Tame Impala, Marvin Gaye, Rolling Stones, El Buho, and the Beatles are among my favorites.
I love most movies from Quentin Tarantino, Inglorious Basterds most likely being my favorite. Tim Burton, Coen brothers, Miyazaki, and Wes Anderson are other directors that I really enjoy, they both create such interesting and unique films. Dodgeball will probably always be one of my favorite comedies.
I will not even try to narrow it down with books, that is entirely too hard for me. Some of the better books I have read recently is Another Roadside Attraction by Tom Robbins and Savages by Don Winslow. I love Rupi Kaur's poems.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It depends what you think is amazing...I recently went trekking in the Himalayas which was really incredible. I think mostly I live my life the way I want and that's an amazing thing in itself.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have random skills, kind of hard to put down into words, but I think I can teach you a thing or two. I have taught English at various places to people of all ages and can definitely help with that. Willing to share any of my knowledge, what is my mine is yours! As mentioned earlier, I am a very curious person so I am willing to learn anything. I love adding new things to my skill set.

Good company, conversation, laughs, cooking partner in crime/food, ideas. Anyway I can help, I will. I love giving back to others and sharing a sense of community.
