ABOUT ME
honest, enthusiastic, encouraging, creative, reliable, intelligent and a techno-dweeb, always a negotiating participant.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To have a tiny experience of really living in another culture, situation and try to communicate in another language. I like to be 'part of the family' wherever I am.
I want to host so I can share hospitality and my love of country, sustainability, travelling tips and provide a restplace from the constant travelling in a big country like Australia. Surfers should allow themselves a week, to relax in' the bush'.
Interests
Learning. I experience joy from hearing other life stories, people's dreams and achievements. Understanding the history of creative and political effort. Food, like language, is my portal to understanding a culture. My professional career in confectionery, visual and performing arts is my key to international communication. All very deep, but to go 'culture-vulturing' is a nice balance to my daily life living with kangaroos and assorted endangered wildlife in my Australian bush environment.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
At my rural property, seeing in broad daylight, the endangered Barking Owl. To hear it's mating call- like a murder in progress - always chills me to the bone. Marvellous.
When leaving Anglesea, victoria, the view west along the coast to Aireys inlet lighthouse always takes my breath away.
Late at night alone on an isolated rocky peninsular of yacht-mooring way out in the bay, the sudden appearance of a lone man made me aware of my vulnerability, but I hesitated from running to shore, and said 'what a beautiful starry night it was'. We star gazed, spotted shipping lights on the ocean horizon, and chatted for hours about life and ideas, and his experience of metal illness causing homelessness. I returned to sleep in a car, and he walked to a safe park. We were both homeless in our own way, but with so much to enjoy. A very special experience.
