Overview
About Me
I'm a Melburnian currently living in Surabaya, Indonesia. After a long stint of teaching English here full time I am currently trying to establish a more flexible working arrangement so that I can make more time to pursue my interests and travel more. I've travelled around Indonesia quite a lot and there are still so many places to explore here but I also want to venture further afield.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've had quite a lot of opportunities to travel over the last few years and by now the whole routine of staying in a hotel and going to all the attractions has really lost its appeal. I'm really seeking to find a human connection in a new place so I can kind of see the place through your eyes and really learn more about it from a local's perspective. I think without that human connection we can only see a place with our eyes and not really gain a deeper understanding of it.
Interests
These days I've been really getting into sport and exercise. I took up trail running a couple of years ago and it's becoming a bit of an obsession. I also like doing yoga and have done a few yoga retreats over the last couple of years and hoping to do more. I really enjoy photography but haven't had as many opportunities for this as I would like.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One amazing thing I've done in the last year is complete a 30 kilometre trail run around the Bromo national park in Java, Indonesia. It's an incredible feeling to look over some of the most spectacular scenery in the world and know that you have covered all of it with your own two (very sore) legs!
