About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Deepen all my practices.

ABOUT ME

28, having just spent 2 years in the great, flat Midwest; now back in staggeringly gorgeous Seattle, my previous home. I like to dig deep into the trenches of crisis in my professional work. Outside of that, you can find me nesting, accumulating stacks of library books, scribbling in spiral notebooks, bobbin my head to some roots manuuuuva, imbibing, seeing art i admire and percolating art i want to make, never making anything but plans...hippie shit.

PHILOSOPHY

I like being in control and I like losing control. Obedience to a ritual is a way of making rules and then letting yourself go along with them.

-Sophie Calle

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Offer up my couches and/or my company when I can. Spread the word like it's my job. I've also had awesome surfing experiences when I've been out and about in the world, met lovely people near and far!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

There is a je ne sais quoi about people who want to engage with each other and the world in this way. At the very least, I have come away from every CS experience having felt grateful for the comfort that I've been offered as an (often weary) traveler. And at the very most, I've come away feeling energized, surprised, and at times like I've made lifelong connections with my hosts or people that I've met through the CS pathway...I could wax about this for a long time, and have. If you're feeling hesitant about surfing or hosting, don't!!!

Music, Movies, and Books

I just watched Metalhead, which I think is a perfect movie.
I love Pete Rock in all eras and seasons.
I just read Maggie Nelson's The Argonauts, and was blown away.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I am amazed by many things, big and small.

But, if you are talking about traveling, I still dream about gazing out over the glimmering bowl of Barcelona at night from the top of Mont Juic.

If you are talking about personally, I was very proud when I first made an extra dry cappuccino.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can drop a little knowledge about: sour cream devil's food cake, really good ice cream, the independent book business, why astrology is not a load of shit, and alternatives to shampoo.

I want to learn about: everything! Especially if it involves music or dancing, languages, carpentry, herbalism, or anything I have claimed to know anything about, above. I would love to meet unpretentious crate diggers, pool aficionados, and bike mechanics (for example).

Sharing is: the most fun. Please, let's.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I will cook for you and recommend books to you!
