ABOUT ME

Trying to find my way in the current world before I change it. Don't ask me how I'll do it, it's going to be a surprise...even to me. Seem to move around a lot so massage therapy is a pretty good profession, what with it being pretty portable. I'm liberally conservative or conservatively liberal...that depending on who you talk to, I imagine. 15 years of working with animals in virtually all capacities imaginable led me to realize that people can be mean, whether they mean to or not. But we are also capable of some of the most amazing kindnesses and generosities conceivable...like letting strangers crash on your couch instead of sleeping in their cars :)

Just starting, so as of yet I have not participated.

I do stuff. I write, bike, play frisbee golf and on occasion basketball. I have been known to inhabit the World of Warcraft and other virtual life. I like to be in places I haven't been before and I'm still looking for the place that I don't want to leave. I garden some when I'm in a place long enough to do so and sometimes even when I'm not. I try to be environmentally and socially conscientious as it's not my plot in life to impose upon the lives of others without invitation.

My trip to Honduras really changed the way that I see my world and my collection of things that we call possessions. And fairly promptly brought me to giving most of the stuff that I owned to my brother. He needed it all way more than I did.

Being aware of the feelings of the beings around me has changed my life profoundly. I encourage everyone to always try this. It's easy to do but you may find it hard to continue you behaving in "solo" fashion :)

Animals are living, sentient beings. And yes, I eat them. It's quite a dichotomy for me at times. Not eating animals. That's easy...and tasty. But how they live before they die is what I struggle with. On a whole, we are blissfully ignorant to the general plight of "food" animals. And lemme tell you...it's a pretty crappy life.
