About Me
COUCHSURFING IS NOT A DATING APP. do not, i repeat, DO NOT request to hang out with me if you are looking for a date.
I am highly unlikely to accept one-on-one requests from men, and will never accept requests from men 30 or older for personal comfort and safety reasons.
Hi! I'm Zophia, an American living in France and working as an English teacher to middle schoolers.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Because traveling is more fun when you meet people! I love to travel alone but am getting tired of staying in hostels where i meet big groups traveling with each other and people who only want to go to bars and see typical tourist sites. Those things are fun, but I really want to experience places more deeply than that, and make friends with common interests. I've stayed with friends while traveling before, including friends I met online and saw in-person for the first time when I came to stay, and it's gone really well. I'd like to expand my horizon even further!
I can't host currently as I live with roommates and am often gone myself, but I don't think it's worth going out of your way to see my current town anyways, honestly...get back to me when I'm back in the USA next summer!

Music, Movies, and Books
i adore indie rock and pop music, some of my favorite artists right now are Waxahatchee, Japanese Breakfast, Land of Talk, MUNA, Now, Now, Hovvdy, Ethel Cain, Laura Stevenson, and Black Country, New Road. (But I might be able to recall some of my classical knowledge from the two years of university I spent studying voice and opera…)
I like to read a mix of contemporary fiction and non-fiction (often about ecology and climate change), I'm currently reading On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong.
I need to watch more films! My old roommate used to put them on in the house but I don't watch enough on my own, which is funny cause I'll enjoy anything from In The Mood for Love to The Big Lebowski to Superbad to Sleepless In Seattle to Le Bonheur.
Teach, Learn, Share
I want to learn a third language, and i am especially interested in Polish because my dad's family is Polish and i am soon to become a polish citizen!
I recently learned how to knit and might be working on a project when I pass through, if you're a knitter or curious about knitting! I do lots of creative things and will probably have my camera (or 2!) with me as well! I love to talk about art, music, literature, linguistics, and many other topics.
I love a good coffee shop and it would be great to get your recommendations for coffee and good vegetarian food :)
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can help you practice English or French and have been known to clean up kitchens and wash dishes when I stay with friends or in AirBnbs :) I also love music so if you have a guitar, I'd be glad to play and sing! I also know how to knit and might be traveling with supplies.
I am a pretty basic cook but i do make a good homemade mac and cheese (my roommates from france and spain loved it!) and can make a bowl of yogurt or oatmeal look very pretty too. I was a strict vegetarian for almost 15 years and still barely eat meat so my meals will all be vegetarian!
