About Me

EDIT: I returned living to Tilburg. My profile is outdated but it's still me :) Just a bit wiser???

Hey! :) My name is Zoran and I am a 24-year old dude who has been living in Amsterdam since december last year. For me, life is that thing that I try to fill with interesting people, sports, adventures and good reads as much as possible. I try not to take it all too seriously. Sometimes I do though.

A little personal history: I was born in Bosnia-Herzegovina, but moved to The Netherlands with my parents in 1999. Ever since I started studying and living on my own, I started travelling. The main reason being, I guess, is because travelling is the only thing in life that gives me a feeling of total freedom.

I'm a bit of a goofball, I like to joke, chat and surround myself in situations that are new to me. At the same time, I like to talk about the bigger topics in life and genuinely help people with their issues, big or small.
Next to my interest which are described below, I like to enjoy the little things in life!

As a journalist I like to write long, in-depth stories about things that aren't seen as mainstream now, but could be in a few years. For example, MDMA therapy for people with PTSD. Or seaweed as food/fuel/plastic replacement. Also I noticed that talking with a lot of people isn't just fun. People can help you think of all sorts of ideas, just with a simple chat!

I now live in Amsterdam in a new, but tiny studio. I can host max. 2 persons :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like to meet new people, make new friends and exchange stories with eachother. I like it when people don't judge others as a reflex, and I think the overall population of CS is leaning more towards open-mindedness then the opposite. But that's just me judging from my own experiences.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Kind of in love with the Arctic Monkeys since a few years. I'm also into a broad variety of acts. Instead of genres, I'll just go with a few names: Flume, Pink Floyd, Foster the People, Caribou, Gorillaz, Foals, Roosevelt, Sufjan Stevens, etc...

As for movies, I have to admit I haven't been watching (m)any lately. I like documentaries and books. And discussing them.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A cool thing I've done was hitchhiking through Europe with a friend of mine. We covered 1500 km and had some amazing experiences :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can learn you Dutch or Serbo-Croatian, the basics of handball and padel, and we can cook a meal together!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm not THE best cook, but I make food for other with love! I also like to have good conversations about anything really.

Furthermore, I keep my things clean and tidy and will be a minimum of a disturbance to you!
