About Me

I try to travel to backstage of societies. Looking behind the curtain of both touristic and political propaganda, I am interested in humans and their stories during my journeys out of the Czech Republic.

I have several reasons to travel. I usually go abroad because of my job - I am a non-formal education trainer in an intercultural environment of Erasmus+ European Commission program. I help young people to develop their projects, enhance knowledge and skills in topics of active citizenship as protest, activism and project management are.

Furthermore I simply travel because of joy. Joy of challenging my mindset, perception of normality and breaking stereotypes.

Another reason for traveling seems to be my everlasting interest in a responsible way of spending time abroad and in discovering differences - I have been asking myself if it was really possible to travel responsibly since the time I have visited Caucasus for the first time.

In the past, my journeys out of the Czech Republic were kind of an escape from my everyday life. Today my everyday life is a synthesis of intercultural learning and public activisms on daily basis - I am part of civic organization Be International (http://beinternational.cz/), I work with minorities in the Czech Republic and local communities in my small hometown of Vsetín. I managed to create my favorite and inspirational environment at home,

- current mission -

Don’t stop moving - your stagnation and perception of normality are slowly eating your passions. Currently I am trying to launch a community oriented travel agency which is built on the principle of trying to understand the societies abroad and going behind the curtain of touristic propaganda.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

- hosting -

Anywhere in the world I locate myself, I am ready to host all the wanderlust kings and queens! Get in touch with me.

- couchsurfing -

Man cannot have a look behind the curtain from the hotel. I would like to stay at couchsurfers’ places because of an opportunity to talk and understand more deeply.

The most memorable moments happening on the road are connected to the locals. Couchsurfing helps me to see communities from inside. Firstly I met lots of amazing locals in Tbilisi who became my friends after a while of living in there, secondly I enjoyed the best New Year’s Eve celebration in Sarajevo thanks to couchsurfers. Since that time I have been meeting locals for beer all over the world (Lebanon, Syria, Myanmar, Costa Rica etc.) and I enjoy their open minded and warm-hearted approach.

When I lived in Tbilisi, we managed a CSF friendly apartment - I have never tasted so many delicious meals prepared by so many people from abroad!

Music, Movies, and Books

Sincerely, I have a tendency to view culture within its societal context - I enjoy to discover culture in order to add some piece of stories to the picture of the society. I love engaged art and performances in public space.

I enjoy reading Russian novels and post-modern Czech literature but most of the time I read articles and blogs (or talk to people;)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It was -5 degrees at night in January and our organization team who participated in training course about peace-building n Azerbaijan, decided to swim in the Caspian Sea. Perfect energizer for sure:)
