Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My dream is to become a documentary filmmaker and/or adventure photographer. So getting out and exploring new places and cultures is what I love to do, and I hope to share that with people.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've surfed and hosted in South Korea and Japan. Basically had nothing but good experiences with couchsurfing.

In August, 2013, I did a two-week cycling trip across western-Japan and met lots of great hosts that helped me along the way!

Interests

I have a BFA in Digital Filmmaking so I love making movies/ videos, I also love to watch movies. Photography, painting, printmaking. I love many kinds of music. Grew up in skateboarding/music culture, that's where my heart is, even if I don't find enough time to skate these days.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love the films of East-Asian independent filmmakers like Kiyoshi Kurosawa, Kim-Ki Duk, and Pek-ek Ratanaruang. I love many kinds of music. I don't read as much as I'd like to but I usually read non-fiction
(space, science, theory, philosophy) or skate magazines.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Just growing up, the times and experiences and friends I had while going through my teenage years were amazing and I wouldn't trade them for anything. That's the kind of life I miss, no responsibility, just time with friends to have fun and dream. Otherwise I've had great travel experiences all through the American West and Hawaii, also some time in Tasmania Australia was amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm sure there's many things I could teach, but I don't believe I exactly know everything there is to know about any one thing. I have taken two years of Japanese language classes so far, so I know some Nihongo. I also know some Korean after living here for a while!I suppose teaching English is obviously something I'd do well. I also know a good amount about Digital Filmmaking and Photography, these would be things I'd love to teach or learn more about from others. Looking to share ideas and experiences, anything from simple things to deep ideas and thoughts.
