Overview
About Me
Sometimes I think I've seen it all, and then I remember I've seen nothing yet.
What I really love to do and have to do:
I play a lot of music, I'm classically trained in cello but I also create tunes of my own using whatever means available. If you're interested, you can check out my own project "Echoic" here: http://www.echoic.co/. We also have a fun band in London called More Ice and Honey, which you can check out here: http://www.moreiceandhoney.com/
I take quite a lot of photos, I sometimes film things and occasionally even draw pictures. Get excited about all sorts of art projects, about 13% of which I ever get started and a handful finished. But I enjoy most forms of art (and, indeed, in the right mindset almost anything can be art).
I'm a vegetarian and don't drive a car, for environmental reasons, I guess. I'm slightly red-green colour blind. Like it's not hard enough to tell green choices from others otherwise.
I used to have a list of things I dislike here. I guess I've recently slightly shifted my philosophy of life towards not defining myself and my life through negative stuff like that. I mean, I still don't particularly like olives, but it suddenly felt stupid to include it here in the "about me" section. It's like, I also don't especially like karate or wearing skirts or the CIA, but that's not exactly who I am.
Things I do like, however, include animals (especially bears, cats, dogs, and elephants) belgian beer (over wine any day (though I do like wine too)), bourbon (and scotch), coffee (black), hockey (ice), languages, Lego, maple syrup, maps (especially underground system maps) pubs, rollercoasters, roofs.
PHILOSOPHY
Grown men don't fall in the river, just like that.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music is an infinite ocean of inspiration, but here a few finite examples of what I enjoy listening to or would like people to think I listen to: Johann Sebastian Bach, Dmitri Shostakovich, Krzysztof Penderecki, Radiohead, Jonny Greenwood, Aphex Twin, Autechre, Liars, Battles, ¡Forward, Russia!, Gang Gang Dance, Flying Lotus, The Knife, Gorillaz, Moby, Jeff Buckley, Gotan Project, Spanish guitar music, Lee "Scratch" Perry and dub reggae in general, some jazz, Tool, Meshuggah, King Crimson.
I think Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus, and Taylor Swift all have their moments of musical credentials. I think Bruno Mars and Jason Mraz never did.
I am always overwhelmingly impressed and inspired by artwork by M.C. Escher and R. Magritte, respectively. Some of my favourite fiction authors are Jose Saramago and James Joyce, whose books I can't really finish but I really like them.
As for movies... All the stuff that everybody in my generation likes. Tarantino, Fight Club, and so on. Charlie Kaufman's, David Lynch's, Andrej Tarkovski's, Pedro Almodovar's, and Paul Thomas Anderson's films. Oh, and I love Star Wars. But we don't have to talk about it if you don't want to.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Oh, come on, it wasn't that amazing, really.
Teach, Learn, Share
If you're a quick learner, I can teach you the history of western philosophy (this is outdated, I can't remember anything, but I'll leave it here as a funny anecdote, and if someone asks, I know they've looked at my profile for a remarkable amount of time and the conversation might turn into something interesting).
If you're a slow learner, I can teach you how to draw syntax trees, map your own vowels onto a formant chart, do derivations of predicate logic, Finnish grammar, English grammar, and musical theory, but you'll have to host me for a longer time.
