About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To survive grad school

ABOUT ME

After a delightful year spent in Ingolstadt, Germany, working as an au pair, I am back in the States trying to remember how to be a student as I begin my graduate studies in English Linguistics.
In the play of life, I have been cast an an "observer", one who tends to think too much and enjoys watching and hearing about people's lives. I'm a great listener (as long as you don't repeat yourself over and over...) and I throw my two cents in when it's called for.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm still fairly new to CS, but I've met some awesome people through my limited exposure to the project. I attended the BFM (Big Franconian Meeting) in Fall 2010 and had my first CS experience that weekend, which was fantastic!

Through the Ingolstadt CS group, I met some lovely people and life-long friends at dinners and meet-ups. I miss you all already!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

As stated above, I've only couchsurfed once before, but I had a great time and felt comfortable and at home with my host.

Now that I'm back in the U.S., I'd like to continue the CS fun and begin hosting as soon as possible!

Interests

Writing funny and random haikus, watching movies, reading books (whether they be "quality" literature or not, marching bands (DCI!), playing piano, sitting in cafes and people-watching, traveling by train, visiting new cities, and having philosophical discussions in hot tubs

Music, Movies, and Books

I have recently stumbled across the works of Ludovico Einaudi and am longing to find it as piano sheet music.

As far as movies go, I enjoy watching anything from "Anne of Green Gables" to "Inception" to "Inglourious Basterds" to "Amelié". I'm just not a big fan of action movies...

British novelist Jasper Fforde is one of my heroes. His books always bring me to chuckles as I read the hilarious literary and cultural references (though I don't get all the British inside jokes) he includes.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can:
spin a colorguard flag and toss it in the air, with relative accuracy.
make delicious pancakes.
share THE CURE for hiccups. It's never failed me, at least.
recite the prime numbers up to 100 and know the trick to it.

I want to learn:
how to crochet (I've forgotten...)
how to roll my r's
how to change a car tire
