Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Living outside of my "comfort zone." I'm graduating soon and have lots to do before entering "the real world."
ABOUT ME
I was born in 1989 and have traveled, by necessity, my whole life, moving through eleven different towns before graduating high school. I am currently an aspiring law student, finishing my undergraduate work at the University of Iowa, where I study Film Theory/Analysis and Communication Studies, before heading to the West Coast (to Stanford, fingers crossed) for Law School.
I am very open-minded and love to hear and learn from other people's opinions viewpoints.
PHILOSOPHY
I feel like my personal philosophy boils down to simple respect. Everyone deserves it. I think that that says it all.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've only surfed so far, but I'm hoping to do some hosting in the future!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I spent a week couchsurfing through Canada and had the time of my life! All of the people I met and stayed with were absolutely amazing.
Learning to longboard, driving new friends hundreds of miles to a Greyhound station, attending my first burlesque show, and an impromptu after-hours swim at a public swimming pool--all great experiences made possible through CouchSurfing.
Interests
I like being involved. As a student, this mostly comes in the form of campus involvement, but I aim to immerse myself in other things that interest me when I leave college behind.
I really enjoy the cinema. Less the loud Hollywood sorts (although I have many guilty pleasures), more the independent, foreign, and art house classics that aim for something a bit more profound than spectacle-based entertainment. I run the student-run independent movie theater on my campus and have absolutely loved having my finger on the pulse, so to speak, of independent film--especially living in the middle of Iowa.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'll just scratch the surface here. I could probably talk about this stuff at great length, but I'll refrain.
Movies- Into the Wild, Wild Strawberries, Mulholland Drive, A Woman is a Woman, Let the Right One In
TV (I'll just add this in): LOST, Mad Men, Twin Peaks, The Office (UK and US), True Blood, Weeds
Music- The Killers, The White Stripes, The Beatles, Gaga, Bloc Party, The Clash, The Ting Tings
Books- The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Klay, Y: The Last Man
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have a potentially false memory of seeing a motorcycle elude a cop car in a high speed chase when I was in elementary school, living in St. Louis. As time has gone by and the "memory" has become more romanticized in my head, I have developed 3 possible conclusions for the situation that I witnessed:
1-everything is exactly as I remember it.
2-I'm confusing a real memory with something that I saw in a movie (the guy on the motorcycle looks like Chris O'Donnell--the guy who played Robin in Batman Forever--in my mind)
3-A combination of the two: I saw a staged high-speed chase, actually seeing Chris O'Donnell elude some cops--albeit the cops were also actors and the chase was used in a movie or tv show.
...I guess I'll never know.
Teach, Learn, Share
Incorporate "outside your comfort zone" into your comfort zone. It will be immensely rewarding, more often than not, and on the rare occasions where it isn't, it will at least be memorable and educational.
