Sobre mí

CURRENT MISSION

Make memories

ABOUT ME:
I'm 25 and from the capital of Poland. I have lived in UK for over 9 years, including places such as Exeter, Brighton, Portsmouth, Ross-on-Wye, Abergavenny and now Cardiff. I recently graduated from Cardiff University and soon will start working as a water engineer.

I am happily married to a wonderful Aussie, who is also a traveller, but I am still addicted to solo travels. My many voyages included stints such as wwoofing in Spain, aupairing in Berlin, workawaying in Latvia, loveparading in Duisburg, festivaling around Europe, roadtripping in Australia and many other random trips. The greatest people I met, I met on the road (including my hubbie!) and that's why I love couchsurfing. There's so many magical people in this world, and I travel with intent to meet as many of them as possible, and learn their ways.

What else... I'm a happy go lucky individual. A pretty bad at cooking, but I am a true omnivore and a major foodie. I am passionate about the environment and healthy living, that's why I'm a devoted wwoofer. I love my friends and family, scattered all around the world, so I often travel just to see them. I enjoy learning new skills and languages, though very often I am too shy to speak them - hopefully one day I will change that. Oh and last but not least, I have a potato-looking nose and a big banana smile. :)

PHILOSOPHY

Children are either happy or clean.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

I want to return the love. I was so lucky with my experiences on CS so far, I feel that I need to contribute to the flow of happiness in the world.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE:

1. Gipsy-like caravan in a squad near Koln. Me and my friend hitchhiked in Germany and stopped in Koln to meet lovely lovely Lena, our hostess. She invited us into her little community and let us stay for 4 nights. The caravan was magical - plain mattresses, bench made out of car seats, zebra material on the ceiling, candles instead of light bulbs, and a watchful gorilla toy. Lack of running water or electricity was a part of the reason why we fell in love with that place.
2. Stockholm, where I stayed in a spare room in one of the corridors in a student halls of Stockholm University. The people living there were so welcoming that I immediately felt like a part of the family. They even cooked a welcome dinner for me, and all waited for me to get there! I got to enjoy slow walks around Stockholm islands and the eventful culture night, where all the museums and historical places open up to the public for one night only. We also ended up at a mad German party in one of the student halls. This experience is going to be a sweet memory for a long long time... :)
3. Cardiff with my couchless homeless host. On night squatting on an office floor, the next pulling an all-nighter in the library and accidentally falling asleep in the university basement... 3rd night our office was stormed by an evil boss, so we ended up driving to Bristol and watching telly at my host's parents house, where I finally collapsed... Random as hell, but damn it was good to meet John :)
4. Prague with a French fellow, who was beautifully mad and kind to offer me and my friend his strangely inviting floor space.
5. Dresden with lovely Johannes, who drank with us on the pavement and introduced me to Club Mate and Shakey Graves.
6. Verona with amazing Gilda, who introduced me to yoga!

Intereses

OUTDOORSY SHENANIGANS
Mushroom picking, hiking, rafting in flumsy inflatables, cycling, 125cc motorbiking, picnicking, sledging on neighbours' hills, making flower bands.

ENVIRONMENT
Particularly with regard to recycling, up-cycling and efficient use of resources. I am all for reducing waste and caring forthe planet. Travellers constantly fall in love with nature and beautiful natural settings around the world, but oh too often people forget what impact we are having on the environment, even though our individual footprint may seem so insignificant.

SUSTAINABLE LIVING
I am madly in love with wwoofing and German Biomarkt's! :) I try to buy seasonal, local and organic goods, as much as my budget allows. I have a great respect for mother nature, which was probably instilled in me by my mum, and I love learning how to live in harmony with the natural environment.

CONSTRUCTION
I love hard manual labour and creating things with my own strength. But being a woman I decided that engineering is a safer bet for a life-long career. I also think my interest in construction ties in nicely with my love for sustainability. Within my work of a water engineer, I wish to improve efficiency of drainage systems and restore a more natural balance of the water cycle in urban areas.

SPIRITUALITY
I am not a hippie and I am a great believer in science over god-like figures, but at the same time, spirituality is something that always made sense to me. I believe in love and good in the world, and they are my god. Through self-development, I wish to improve my connection with the world.

Algo increíble que he hecho

1. Sailing from Poland to Sweden on a tiny 7m yacht. Though I was sea-sick for most of the journey :)

2.Paddling for 2 hours in an inflatable dingy to get to a pub in the nearest village and then walk for over an hour back to my cottage through hedge-claded countryside lanes, at night, with a wet boat on my back.
