Lithuania Kaunas

Kaunas is Lithuania’s second largest city, and home to a lively student population from the great universities within the city. It’s shrouded in history, but Kaunas is also a great place to get out and socialize. The city center is awash with pubs and cafés offering live music and a vast array of drinks. Stop in at a local restaurant to try some authentic Lithuanian cepelinai or head to Avilys for everything beer-related, including beer soup and some sweet beer-infused desserts.

Visit the red-roofed Kaunas Castle and explore its medieval prison, and make your way to Pažaislis Monastery, one of the most beautiful pieces of architecture in all of Lithuania. Learn about the many struggles that Kaunus has survived at the Vytautas the Great War Museum and celebrate Lithuanian independence at the Freedom Statue in the square outside.
