About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Lifetime bond with the two: future partner and travelling!!!

ABOUT ME

A typical Gemini here. Boredom is my enemy. Good multitasker, great communicator. Constantly evolving, but always long for long term relationship, in a considerate way.

I do believe that "we" are destined to meet. Whatever comes up next, there must be a reason. (I am non-religious btw)

PHILOSOPHY

"The tears shed yesterday have become rain"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I actually knew about CS approximately one year ago via many of my both domestic and international friends, who are tourists and travelers. I, however, decide to start CS-ing for the next coming trip abroad to have real and first-hand experience.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Not yet defined, but surely will experience this over the next Thai trip this Jan 2013.

Interests

Me in the yesteryears likes reading thick and wordy novels. The present HUYEN TRAN is more fond of travelling/fashion magazines and comics. However, my love for masterpiece classics, either books or music, never dies.

I am also a good drawer/painter. Won some drawing contests when I was a child, but all left now is still a child who loves drawing :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In the summer of 2008, I and two of my friends, for the very first time, packed our bags and travelled to Sapa, Ha Noi. At first, Sapa was a massive anti-climax. The sky was zink, overcast and foggy way up in the hills, the absolute opposite of the sticky weather in Hanoi.
It was a wonderful day, walking in those gorgeous glens and we stopped off at a village or two to smile at locals and pull faces at the super-cute children in their classrooms at the school. The kids there were so good natured and their evident curiosity regarding these peculiar looking visitors (us!) was priceless. We also walked to Cat Cat village to see the waterfall there.

Over the next days, the rain lifted, at the top of a muddy and slippery hill, our guide pointed about 4km into the distance where a beautiful river ran through the valley. We descended into the valley—there was hardly room for error for the next 3km or so—we hiked along the mountainside on a trail barely wider than a bike tire. What was embarrassing was that many of us relied on the assistance of elder women and young little girls to keep from falling down the mountain. While we hiked in our laced running shoes, they hopped and skipped along the trail with all the gear they wanted to sell while wearing cheap, simple rubber sandals. What a resilient people. Our tour guide’s sister decided to come along and she had her barely-1-year old son tied to her back. She made it through. And without a hitch. After leaving at 9.30, we arrived for lunch at around 1. We would hike to an adjacent village after lunch where I was followed by a young little girl asking me to buy something, after I ignorantly snapped a beautiful photo of her. This tenacious little girl walked alongside me for approximately 30-40 minutes. She gave up and ran to Alex, where she subsequently began to cry. Our unwillingness to buy something pushed her to a tantrum and ultimately a little violence. She was definitely the most animated salesperson any of us have come into contact with. My interpretation of our encounter with her is definitely an understatement of what happened. All the villagers along with our tour guide could not help but laugh—for all this was the same act this little girl used on all passersby. She would grace the remainder of our hike until we boarded a bus back to the hotel.
Ultimately, while the hiking put many of us on edge, Sa Pa’s beauty is something to die for.
