About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To act honorably and graciously in challenging situations and to appreciate differences and value diversity.
ABOUT ME
Most people think the Brits are reserved and stand-offish, so not quite sure what happened to Pat and Roger. That's not to say they are wild party types, but they are definitely an outgoing, chatty couple, who enjoy life to the full, are prepared to take the occasional risk, and have travelled extensively. Roger is laid back and musical (don't show him a ukulele), who spent his last ten working years as an Events Organiser.
Pat is more spiritual and comes from a scientific background. Both of them love dogs, cats and football (soccer). Having recently taken early retirement they are ready to take on the rest of the world. So watch out - they may be coming your way.
PHILOSOPHY
Assume nothing and try and accept the best from people.
Interests
After taking early retirement a year ago we now spend our summers lazily moving from pub to pub, cruising the beautiful canal sysem of England and Wales on our new 60ft narrowboat, "The Cat's Whiskers", at a jaw-dropping 3mph. She is currently moored near Nottingham for the winter. From Easter 2013 we aim to slowly head south. Want to join us?
However, winters are no fun on the canals, especially if you are iced in, so that is when we take off for warmer climes.
Roger plays drums, guitar, a little piano, and is currently learning the ukelele. Way back he was a journalist for a bit and still writes a lot, mainly local history and beer related stuff. He runs pub quizzes and is involved in CAMRA, the organisation that promotes and protects traditional British cask conditioned (real ale) beer - warm but very tasty.
Pat is a gypsy at heart, and would live in a tent if Roger would let her. She is an active member of the Spiritualist church in the UK, likes walking at least three miles a day, and is a sucker for dogs and cats. Pat is also a fan of Fulham Football Club, from West London, who generally languish in the bottom half of the English Premier League (come on you whites!!)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Roger says: Watching Arsenal FC at Wembley Stadium do the Cup and League double in 1971 was a defining moment for somebody so young at the time, and playing drums for four thousand people at the Royal Albert Hall was not bad either. I also played drums on a number one hit single in the British charts in 1968, but that is quite a complicated story.
Hang Gliding over Queenstown, New Zealand, was pretty special, even if I felt sick doing it, so was the realisation when I came round from surgery some five years ago, that I would walk again, after breaking my back falling through our conservatory roof - ouch!
Pat says: Spending at least a day a year, at Wimbledon, watching the best in world tennis does it for me, though I am not too keen on all the queing.
Watching red kites soaring overhead as we cruised down the River Thames last summer, as the sun went down, wasn't bad either. Overseas the grandeur of sights such as Machu Picchu in the Andes and the Victoria Falls on the Zambian side can't fail to impress.
