Overview
About Me
I am a 32 year old Turkish resident, who was born in Istanbul and still lives there. I am a freelance writer and translator, working for miscellaneous local and global firms. So, I am usually at home.
I graduated from Philosophy Department of Bogazici University in 2007. I didn't go on with the graduate education. I preferred to work, but I still read philosophical works of important philosophers and I volunteer for philosophical translations.
I love to spend quality time on my own or with my bf. I am a calm and tidy person. I always wake up early and plan my day down to the last detail. All of my friends call me Kant, because of the German inside me. :)
I am a bookworm and a cinephile, which means we can talk a lot, if you are interested. I am also an internet entrepreneur. One of our projects, gezinmece.com, is a new generation travel web site. I would love to discuss with you on the English version of Gezinmece, which we will soon launch.
I am a non-smoker. So, you're not allowed to smoke inside, but there is a nice terrace for you to smoke. We have a variety of local wines, if you are interested. Also, we can prepare you some Turkish dishes and desserts.
Beside smoking, any fascist act, radical religious thought or homophobia isn't allowed in our home. You can leave your worries behind, when you step inside, and you will leave with nice memories about your accommodation.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
The common answer would be "because I want to meet knew people" or "because I want to improve my English", but as a short story writer, I'd prefer to say that "because I want to collect stories of people from all around the world".
Interests
I've been writing since my childhood. I am an award-wining short story writer. Many of my short stories and essays are published in magazines, but I decided to publish them online, preferably on my own blog.
I am traveling as frequently as I can. I've already seen 20 countries and many cities. I love to write on travel and work on travel. Our website, gezinmece.com is live and we will launch the English version soon.
Origami is my childhood passion, but I haven't improved much. I used to play organ in my childhood, and I want to improve it or play the sufi flute that is waiting for my in the house. I involved in ceramics for 3 years, when I was studying philosophy at Bogazici University.
