I am Mariette, a 30-something year old teacher who thought teaching would be more interesting with some travel experience to share. After graduating I left my home country in 2012 and I am still travelling.
Currently I combine travelling and working, which I do in wineries where I learn more about wine making.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to meet people who love to meet other people.

Meeting hosts in their hometown gives me the perspective I like to see new places from. Instead of passing by, I like to see how other people live like in those places.

Meeting CouchSurfers gives me the opportunity to share experiences and to stay in touch with the travel-scene while I am not travelling myself.

Getting my teaching degree. Making kids smile. Being amazed by the beauty of New Zealand. Sunsets on the west coast. Getting lost in Indonesian suburbs. Climbing the top of mt. Rinjani. Swimming in a hidden waterfall. Getting lost in temples. Feeding abused elephants now living in freedom. Wandering around a place with no tourists around in Myanmar. Learning the passion about wine making. Hitch hiking with my friend in New Zealand and Australia. Celebrating Christmas/NewYears with my Kenyan friend and his child home.
