Über mich
CURRENT MISSION
I love learning about most anything especially people and cultures.
ABOUT ME
I grew up in the Midwestern United States in a small family but started traveling young because my mother's family comes from Mexico. I went to school in Boston, a city that I fell in love with (except for the cold weather)and studied Nursing. I have always dreamt of joining the Peace Corps (since I was 12 years old) and decided to make my dream come true. I have been working as a PCV in Cameroon for almost a year and a half. I spend my time in village working at a local hospital (mostly vaccination campaigns and prenatal consultations) and on the side help run a community soy field. I love my experience in my village and learn something new every day about how simple life can be, and about how to interact with others. Other than work, most of my time in village is spent doing chores, walking around and visiting with friends, and getting to know myself.
PHILOSOPHY
I think that the only way to live this life is to love the people that are around you, focusing on the interactions you have each day, and finding joy in the small details.
Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Just recently had my first experiences as a couch surfer and was amazed by how it really made my vacation so much more authentic and allowed me to get to know a very real side of the cultures in the countries I was traveling. I loved being thrown into the everyday activities that people do and getting to hear host country national's stories, ideas, thoughts about their own culture.
Interessen
I love a cup of coffee first thing in the morning. The way the right amount of beer loosens conversations. Watching people prepare food in their own kitchens. Learning about agriculture/gardening and sustainable eating. Beaches, coconuts. Mango season. Taking trains as a form of trasnport. Riding bikes around cities. Writing and recieving letters. Making up fictional stories. Dance. Packing light. Thrift stores.
