About Me

I have the soul of a nomad. I was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, studied in São Paulo, have lived for three years in Tübingen, Germany and then a year in Boston, USA. During this time I have been to wonderful places, learned new languages, made many new friends and couchsurfed some. I usually stay in the couches of friends of friends, which are not in the couchsurfing website, but I have had a couple of good experiences here as well.
I have just finished my Master in Neural Information Processing, spent a year working with AI at MIT and I am now in a transition step of my life. I want to get a tech job that has an impact on the world, pursue a PhD in AI, and I am fairly open about the opportunities in the world. Who knows, I might end up living in your neighborhood soon!
I believe there is art in science and science in art, that both are ways to expressing the idealistic human inside each of us.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Travelling is not about getting a plane, staying in a hotel and eating in a restaurant. Travelling is the unique opportunity to get a glimpse on how similar people are, despite living in the other side of the globe, speaking other languages, eating different food and having distinct experiences. Travelling is the opportunity to see how similar people can be, while remaining remarkably unique.
And this I can do better while couchsurfing.
Interests
When I travel ,the first things that I look for are: cool parks and museums, nice sightseeing places and good budget restaurants and caffés. If I have a place to cook, I also enjoy discovering new ingredients in the local supermarket and preparing something. A recent hobby of mine is to walk around town with a good audio tour, and listen about all the history behind the cool places I am seeing.
When I am home, I dedicate much of my time to science and technology. What can I say, it's not only a profession, it's a passion. In my spare time, I like dancing a lot. I've done a little bit of hip-hop, contemporary, ballet, lindy hop and a couple of other styles.
And something quite noticeable about my personality is that I love to talk, chat and have meaningful conversations. Common topics are how to make the world a better place and improve people's lives. The child in me believes we can do it together.
