About Me

Hi everyone,

I've been on couchsurfing for a while but it's only now that I've decided to try it out-- so though I have no references as of yet, I promise I don't bite!

I am part Spanish, part Argentine, born in Egypt, and grew up all over the place (Argentina, Syria, Spain). I also spent a semester of university in Toronto, Canada. Now I have moved to Durham, N.C. to pursue a Ph.D. in Art History.

What can I say about myself... I love backpacking, I love hiking and I love combining both. The wilder the trip, the better.

I am the type of person who conducts a full-on investigation when preparing a trip. I look at necessities and options, make schedules and counter schedules on excel, maps on paint, and then a powerpoint to explain the plan to my friends. Then, when the trip starts, I throw all those plans out the window. I really enjoy planning for the trip and knowing the territory I'm going to explore, but then really letting it take me where it wants to-- after all, that always leads you to the best experiences.

I love to have fun and look forward to meeting new people. I'm also very polite (at least according to Spanish standards). My rules as a guest are to be friendly, helpful and to make myself as invisible as possible in terms of clean up. The one thing I require is that you be gay-friendly.

I love learning about the culture and history of a place, and will probably find the weirdest plans through sketchy websites. The good news is they usually work. At the end of the day, there's nothing I love more than recapping our adventures over a beer or alternative alcoholic beverage.

Anyways, I look forward to hearing from you all, if you're interested to get to know me!

Sincerely,
Felipe A.
