Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am always in the search of the 'right kind' of people. Though I am friendly with most people, it's only to my close friends I reveal my best. Couchsurfing is an extension of my eternal quest to find those friends who will always be dear to me even though they are continents away. That, and I love to travel new places and explore life to the fullest. And only a local buddy can take you to the best places and make you comfortable when you are far from your homeland. I believe in the same and if you agree then we might meet up or who knows I might be able to host you.

Also this gives me access to a huge network of people who are always ready to lend a helping hand and a sound word of advice. The philosophy of Couchsurfing resonates with our Eastern Philosophy of Hospitality - "Athithi deba Bhaba" ( Guest is equivalent to God)

Interests

Life in general. So much happening around me, I try to absorb as much as I can. New experiences, ideas, imaginations. I am a budding filmmaker and I want to collaborate more with creative people from similar fields. I love Theater and dance performances.

Some people love to collect gems. I love to travel to new places, gather new memories and make new friends.

Music, Movies, and Books

The list is endless and evolving. From post-rock to techno, Country folk to rich orchestral music, my playlist changes according to my mood. I believe music is like food for the soul and we need to keep trying out new ones while keep going back to reliable old favorites.

Movies and TV series - I am fan of Thriller, Mystery, Action and Sci-fi. I am bit of a snob when it comes to Comedy and drama. I guess you can bear with it, though. I am currently a big fan of Game of Thrones and those shooting spots are added to my bucket list. If you a movie buff, I will open doors of my huge collection of precious gems and you can pick whatever you like and then we might spend some time appreciating it's beauty. ;)

Books are like the old flame who you can't live without. You keep going back to them again and again. Not only a good mood-lifter, but also I find them a rich source of information. Only my reading habits have become more digital these days. And I kind of read 5-6 books at a time. Something which is a product of this age and time I guess.

Comics and Graphic Novel is something that I relish. Favorites - Sandman series, Tintin, Deadpool, Dark Knight saga

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Oh, I don't know where to start. I am more an explorer than traveler. My quest has taken me to all sorts of crazy situations. From paragliding to deep sea diving to playing crazy pranks on travel mates, I have my share of stories to share.

But the best experience was when a leopard paid us a visit as we were finishing off with a campfire party in the Himalayas!

Teach, Learn, Share

If you are coming to India, you should explore Kolkata and the beautiful North-East along with Benaras and some places in South India. If you have 2-3 months time I can help you create a rough itinerary of where to go in India and a handy list of do's and don'ts. I can connect you with my couchsurfer friends in other cities. In return I expect you to cook some tasty exotic dish and sing me a lullaby in your language!Just Kidding!! LOL!

People interested in spirituality might find some interesting take aways. What else, love for life and respect for other cultures? I am sure you will have it already in you. But if I can become the catalyst, I will.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a big foodie. Then and now I set out on quests to discover new cuisines and places for eating out. So if you are a genuine food lover, well I can take you to the best hidden food joints in the town. And believe me, Kolkata is the most happening place in India as far as food diversity is concerned.

Other than that you can take a peek at my movie collection and if Indian movies is something you want to check out, well, be my guest. And then we can have endless debates and discussions all night long!

I can exchange countless crazy trip experiences with you and of course if you love good company I can introduce you with my friends. I can click you some nice photos in local clothes, if that's your call. In brief, I can make your stay extra special!
