About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Stay young at heart!

ABOUT ME

I am from a small village in Ireland, the type of places you see on postcards and chocolate boxes. I've been avoiding this picturesque hometown for about 5 years now, for reasons unknown to anyone, including myself. Previously I've traveled and/ or lived in South America, Australia, and parts of South East Asia. This is my second year in Korea, as I try to jump starts my career in ESL teaching. I work hard to maintain the Irish stereotypes by regularly going out drinking and 'having the craic' with friends. I also scuba dive casually, and enjoy eating cheese and drinking tea.

PHILOSOPHY

My approach to life is to treat others as you would have them treat you...like 'pay it forward'? I guess, just we can't expect people to respect us if we don't first respect them.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Couchsurfing is a new experience for me. As I am pretty stationary at the moment, I am a host. I do, however, only have a tiny apartment, so there are not glamorous digs on offer. I can provide floor cushions and pillows/blankets!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far I have been a host and met a number of people socially, resulting in good times and new friends! I also surfed while in Hawaii, and it made the experience all the more awesome, cos i got to live like a local! :)

Interests

One of my main hobbies (when I get the chance) is scuba diving. I first got my licence in Galapagos Islands, and I've been hooked ever since. I try to squeeze a dive in wherever possible, even if I'm budget traveling!

Other things I'm involved in is dancing and flash-mobbing, not professional in ANY sense of the word, but I enjoy going out and dancing like a mad woman! Under the same banner, any socialising with friends that involves getting dressed up and shaking our behinds is a big one for me - I am a huge fan of fancy dress/costumes for no particular reason!

I dabble in a big of writing, blog style and the odd travel article/review for local info sources. I enjoy reading lots, and when I'm on the road one of my fav things to do is to find a book swap where I can pick up random titles and perhaps come across things that I never would have thought to pick up in a book shop.

I don't watch a lot of telly, but I love the movies. All genes, with perhaps the exception of really gruesome psychological horror, cos then I can't sleep!

Music, Movies, and Books

Too too too many to get in to!

My music taste is broad and wide, and open to expansion! And the moment I am listening to Deadmau5, Mumford and Sons, Emeli Sande, and a whole lotta K-pop!

Some of my favorite movies are those from my childhood, such as the Goonies, and Big Trouble in Little China Town. I love action films, like the first Transformers, and I'm a fan of the Iron Man Series. I can also do romance and drama stuff too!

Books I like are interesting and thought provoking, without being too preachy. I really enjoyed 'This Book Will Save Your Life', and 'life of Pi', but then I almost gagged reading 'Celestine Prophecies'! I also have guilty pleasures like 'Harry Potter' and 'Dark Materials'.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think my travels in South America were some of the most amazing times of my life. I visited Angel Falls and Manchu Picchu, and I got to experience the weird and wonderful Galapagos Islands. I met many crazy people, and did many crazy things...but I don't want to spoil all the stories!

Teach, Learn, Share

I don't know how adpet I am to teach anything. At the moment I teach English as a foreign language, but sometimes I question my ability to do that!

I could defo show people some basic fire spinning tricks, give a Guinness appreciations lesson, and shed a little light for those interested in the political situation in Ireland/Northern Ireland! ;)

I wanna learn more Spanish.
