About Me

Hi, my name is Philip.

I am the middle child in a Danish-Jewish household. As with so many other Jewish families, mine has a story of migration on both my father's and mother's side, making me a fourth-generation immigrant.

I love to travel and explore, but I feel that I have a great base in this wonderful country of Denmark, which my family had the good fortune to end up in. I try to be grateful for that every single day.

Curiosity is an important character trait for me. You won't ever know everything in the world, but as I read on a tombstone in Rome once: There's no wisdom too small.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

CS offers a wonderful opportunity to experience local hospitality and I have had the pleasure of both being on the receiving end and offering it myself. I like to open my home to travellers and, if possible, take them on a tour of Copenhagen.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've almost exclusively have had positive experiences with CS, staying with open-minded people in an array of different countries. CS has been a great way for me to experience local life on my travels.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a very difficult time with compiling these lists as there is so much out there to hear, read or watch and I feel that the vast digest of entertainment now on offer, even more so now with the internet than ever in human history, makes it impossible to narrow down.

When it comes to books though, I have always been a fan of the ancient Greeks and Romans, in many matters the founders of our modern society. To read a text written 2,000 years ago and realize that the author struggled with the same issues regarding life as we do to this very day makes for an eye-opening experience.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

To travel to England all on my own as a very, very young man to do a semester of exchange back in high school.
