About Me
Ola amigos!
My name is Martina, 20, from Slovenia, a little country in central Europe.
I currently try to purse two passions in life - studying medicine which takes up most of my year and traveling which i try to squeze inbetween semesters.
Right now i cannot host you in my home in Ljubljana, but sometimes in summer months i can host you in a small appartment of my family on slovenian coast (close to Portorož).
If not by hosting or being hosted i try to participate in CS by giving people information about Ljubljana, slovenia or entire region. Just send me a message if you need to know anything!
For me couch surfing is so much more than just a free bed. Its spending time with a local/foreigner, learning from others about different cultures and presenting yours, food exchange (i cook for you, you cook for me), making friends, learning languages...
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I couchsurfed in dubai, sri lanka and austria and it was one of the best experiences of my life. You get to see a place from another perspective.
I hosted some friends and people in my summer house in Portoroz.
During the year when i study and cannot travel i try to help people who post questions on public board in Ljubljana. I also use CS before traveling to get informations about the destination :)
Interests
Surfing, snowboarding, reading, acro yoga, board games, traveling, riding horses...
I played piano for 10 years, was in a bend and also played bas guitar for a while.
I also voulenteered in a youth network No Excuse - organising youth exchanges, educating young boys and girls about effects of tobaco...
Right now i am part of a voulenteering group of medical students, where we do more health related workshops, conferences...

Music, Movies, and Books
My taste for music and movies really depends on my mood and situation, as for books i like epic fantasy, books about traveling, sailing, science...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Climbing to the top of the highest (unfinished) building in Abu Dhabi with my amazing CS host Mohd from Dubai. (Check photos for proof)
Teach, Learn, Share
I would really like to learn more spanish and how to cook traditional food of people i meet or host. I would also like to learn how to play ukulele.
If i am on the road i am also interested in local alternative/supplementive medicine (like ayurveda in india and sri lanka).
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can teach you slovenian, german and even some serbo-croatian. Also we can do acro yoga or some basic gymnastics/acrobatics. If there is snow nearby i can teach you snowboarding (i've been doing it for more than 10years).
I am also an intermediate surfer so i can teach you or you can teach me - depends on what level you are ;)
I always try to cook/bake a traditional slovenian dish for a host or guest if there is time!
Also if you are interested in medicine/health i can give you some advice from a student's perspective (please have in mind that i am not yet a doctor) and i can teach you CPR.
