About Me

USA THIS YEAR, AUGUST!!

I'm a French woman who loves to explore the world and meeting its people. Traveling without connecting to locals is useless, this is why I prefer solo travel most of the time.

I was a Tour Guide for three years in Normandy and Brittany, places full of history and heritage!
I spent a year in the USA (first New Rochelle near New York then Mclean near Washington DC) and I loved it. I came back to France in August 2015 and already miss the American lifestyle but honestly, not the food or wine lol

I'm a very friendly and devoted person but I kick away people trying to take advantage of it. I'm very helpful, I love talking to share experiences, people say I'm funny so I hope they don't say it just to please me :D

I now work for a small luxury cruise ship company and explore many remoted places of our beautiful planet.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am unfortunately not able to host people because the place where I live is not mine.
Also my new job can call me last minute for leaving a few days later. Yesterday I was wondering how I would keep my time busy for three month, newt thing I know is "Aurélia, are you interested in going to Norway for 40 days?" ^^

If I'm not available when you come and can't find a host, I can also share a free access to a booking site where you'll have up to 45% of savings on hotels :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

In the past I have put some nice guys up (from France, Italy, Ireland...) and went once at someone's house on La Réunion Island.
I love Couchsurfing (both ways) because it's a great adventure to travel and meet locals who make you discover their city and places they know.

Interests

Music, cooking, drawing , hiking, shopping, reading (history, arts, travels..) and learn about heritage. I also like to chill out on the weekends: going out to have a drink, meet people, practice sports etc.
I love extreme sensations which includes: theme parks with roller coaster and other thrilling attractions, bungee jumping, paraglinding, parachuting.. And I'm always looking for new and unlikely things to do!

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm open-minded so my repertoire is very broad!
My parents taught me well so you might be surprised that I love Queen, Pet Shop Boys, Tears for Fears, Pink Floyd, Toto, Police, Chris Isaak Sting, Rolling Stones, Metallica, The Cranberries...
I also love Placebo, Coldplay, Mika, Lilly Wood and The Prick, Daft Punk..
The only kind of music I have "difficulty" with is Rap and Hard metal.

In France we have some good bands and solo singers that I like a lot: Bernard Lavilliers, Laurent Voulzy, Louise Attaque, Louis Bertignac, Calogero...

My taste evolve with new sounds around the world, so I'm all ears ^^

I love watching movies and again I'm very open minded, except for Horror Movies. I doesn't scare me but I find them ridiculous at some point.
My favorite movies are: The Fifth Element, Back to the Future, Star Wars, Bruce Almighty, Into the Wild, Harry Potter, Whiplash.. and so many others!
In french; OSS 117, le Dîner de Cons, les Anges Gardiens, les Trois Frères..
I also love animation movies and TV shows (Desperate Housewive, Homeland, Devious Maids, Drop Dead Diva, Doctor House...)

My "books" are mostly Travel, History or Arts Magazines: Grands Reportages, Geo, National Geographic... But I like Thriller Books (The Surgeon by Tess Gerritsen is my favorite) , Comic books (Tintin, Lucky Luke)...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The best time of my life was when I saw the Pyramids of Giza, in 2004. I was 14 and my heart was deeply beating.
The second best moment was in January 2013, I had holidays in la Réunion (French island next to Mauritius and Madagascar. We went hiking with a friend in one of the three Circus, called Mafate. It was a hard time (very sportive, a lot of differences in height) but the landscape was stunning. I was send into raptures.
I also was lucky enough to see the volcano erupting

LAST CRAZY THING I DID: STEP FOOT ON THE ANTARTICA CONTINENT

Teach, Learn, Share

I don't have the pretentiouness to "teach" things to others but as I already said previously, I love sharing about many subjects and spend time with people.
I also like people to share their stories, interests, dreams...

What I Can Share with Hosts

Fun, fun and fun!
I'm not meeting you guys to bother you or get bothered, just sharing fun moments!
People describe me as a funny person and very generous.
I'm gonna make you laugh, I'm going to cook for you and we'll have so much fun!
