ABOUT ME
Originally, I am from Vienna. I came to Basel to do my PhD and got stuck (voluntarily) for the moment. I lived in Norway for a short while and am hooked to northern Europe - landscape, literature, culture.
I am a molecular biologist by training. Developmental processes fascinate me. Put me in front of a fluorescence microscope and I'll be occupied for hours. At the moment, however, I work on aquatic ecology (invasive species) and try to get hooked in academia.
Books make me happy, and although my little boy is awesome, I miss having time for reading SO MUCH.
Also, you can be sure that I can tell you more about the latest painted visual arts exhibitions in the region.
Our son (*12-2012) is totally couchsurfingcompatible and usually cheerful, but you may have to navigate Lego bricks and be mentally prepared for someone being VERY awake 7 am *g*.
Interests
A wild collection of what is "me":
Biology, the power of words, Creativity, everything odd and absurd, Singing, 20th century art, Norway, Scouting, playing games, Curiosity, Sewing, and the determination to be happy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Good moments lurk behind every corner. I'd call pink clouds in a blue sky fantastic - and you can have that every other day :D
And the most unreasonably crazy thing I ever did was probably a three day field trip on Svalbard, never having done cross country before, never having dealt with dogs or sledges before, three months pregnant. *g*
