Über mich
Hey! This is the couch surfing profile I made with my sister Roos, when we we're travelling Israel and Jordan together. Right now I am in South Africa with my friend Fleur (whom you see in the picture, on the right) to have another amazing trip. We are two Dutch girls, both 23 years old, who have explored a little bit of the world together and are very keen to see SA!
We both just got our bachelor's degree, in neuroscience and philosophy, and are taking a year off to decide on a masters, but also to take advantage of the fact that we're still young, do not have responsibilities yet and to do what love: travel. On our trip, we are hoping to meet a lot of amazing people, to see all of SA's different landscapes, to dance, hike, learn to braai like a braai master, to surf, swim, and experience the country to the fullest.
Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin
We have both travelled South America a few years ago and that's where we had our first couch surfing experiences, and every single one was different and amazing. When we were hosted in Santiago de Chile, in Mendoza, Antofagasta, and in Buenos Aires and couldn't have imagined how much nicer it is to explore a place through the eyes of a local. Fleur and I also met up in Israel, where we tried couch surfing for the second time and again met the most amazing people who showed us around and told us all the fascinating stories about this country. So far, we've both had nothing but awesome experiences with couch surfing and cannot wait to meet SA couch surfers.

Fleur:
This summer I finished my philosophy studies, which I'd like to bring in practice on day. I've lived in Amsterdam my whole life but spent my first years in Nairobi, Kenya. When I feel like it, I tend to leave my hometown and travel or live in a different city which is not familiar to me. This time, my path brought me here, to South Africa. I'm very happy to be in Africa again and excited to explore the continent I was born in.
Lotje:
I like to call myself a neuroscience student, cause that saves me explaining what I really studied - I just graduated Amsterdam University college, a liberal arts & sciences college where I focused on neuroscience but also was lucky enough to get a taste of philosophy, politics, literature and psychology. I really enjoy studying but right now I am very happy to be done for a bit and to have the chance to travel again! Seeing South Africa has been a big wish for a long time so couldn't be happier to be here right now. I love to do sports, especially field hockey, running, hiking and skiing, and love cooking (will definitely show my humble skills to hosts ;) ), love all kinds of music, wish I could play an instrument but find myself in the role of the amazed listener more often.
We both work at a cafe in the north of Amsterdam called café de Ceuvel - the coolest place you'll find in Ams :) De Ceuvel is focused to close as many loops as possible: we try to produce hardly any waste or recycle as much as possible, we use only local products (also from our own city garden, very cool!), use as little packaging as possible, and, most importantly, to spread the word to show how important it is to take care of our planet.

Musik, Filme und Bücher
Fleur's favorite book is One Day by David Nicholls, Lotje's favorite book is Harry Potter - all of them
Lehren, lernen, teilen
Do you wanna learn some Dutch slang? We'll be happy to teach you ;)
Other than that, we love to cook, dance, exchange music and listen to live performances, we'd love to go hiking (as our little flat country doesn't allow us to do much of that), swim, go into nature - we are here to see and hear about every bit of South Africa, so we are down for any cool idea!
