About Me

I am a very enthusiastic person that loves to understand the world through the small details. I love to talk and to listen to other people's experiences. I believe that in the long run we receive as much as we give.

I love to read

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The principle of Couchsurfing is something beautiful. You give your home, a place that is intimate, personal for you, without expecting to receive anything materialistic in return. This is a value that should be reinforced. And people that do this, are people that believe in good actions and that had experienced the pleasure of receiving before, usually while traveling.
It is about story telling, about knowing interesting people that have done so much and inspiring each other in our journeys :)

Interests

I have many interests in my life. I am actively interested in traveling/cultures, sports, artificial intelligence, philosophy and literature.

Learning about other cultures is something I regularly do when I am traveling. I love to see the small details that make them unique. That make each culture fascinating! I am currently working in a field of artificial intelligence applied to health systems, and both things motivate me in a meaningful way.The world is full of interesting and important problems. I think we should focus on the latter.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books made me grow as person, by making me able to experience things I would never experience otherwise.

I read many books, and all left there marks. But the ones that made an ever lasting presence in my being are: "If you meet the buddha on the road kill him" by Sheldon B. Kopp , "The unsustainable lightness of being" by Milan Kundera, "The age of reason" by Jean-Paul Sartre, "Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance" by Robert M. Pirsig, and "Siddhartha" by Hermann Hesse.

I already talked too much :P, if you want to know more ask me (by the way, "La grande bellezza" is certainly one of my favorite movies :D )

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was a volunteer in a small city in the middle of China. I taught english to young kids, but there is no such thing as just teaching English. You become a role model, a mentor, a friend to them, and you understand the power and responsibility you have in your shoulders. It is a wonderful sensation...

Teach, Learn, Share

“The value of things is not the time they last, but the intensity with which they occur. That is why there are unforgettable moments and unique people!”
― Fernando Pessoa

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share about Portuguese, Chinese and Czech culture.
I can teach them how to cook bacalhau in a decent way :P
I can tell them about leaving near the ocean, and how it feels to breathe the salty air and understanding how small we are in this world but nevertheless belonging to the whole. I can tell them about the café culture of being with friends just for the sake of being with them.
