About Me

hi i'm nils and i'm currently living in Bremen (Germany). I could give some hardfacts about myself but I think you will get to know me way better when I express a bit what I think and value at the moment.

I'm trying to detach from all that societal expectations that are trying to define what I should do and when. I gave up upon institutional learning because I think that the most fruitful learning experiences happen on the road /in life. Once equipped with the tools and a mindset to dissect your experiences you're ready ro go. I try to challenge myself in that way, because learning for me happens outside the comfort zone and mostly outside routine. However routine is important to actually let all those inspirations grow in oneself.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

to meet inspiring people and to share experiences. I love talking to people and see new perspectives on things, it alywas gives me a huge pleasure when someone offers me a new perspective on things i have thought to know everything about.
A new inspiring thought is one of the most valuable things for me.

I like to find people I can connect to and share this feeling of community that I guess a lot of us know.

Interests

my interests are rather widely, it totally depends on where i am at the moment.
Im mostly interest in other people's perspective and discussing a wide variety of topics. I'm really into languages aswell and how language connects with culture.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like every kind of music that makes me travel in my mind and that has a groove, but nevertheless my heart beats to electronic music, especially techno music.
I dont want to miss those trips I had when listening and dancing to a skilled dj for hours.
When at home, I spend hours djing myself, with my friends trying to find that one new record that is missing all the time.

Kind of the same applies for books, without the groove though.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

That's an easy one: I inspired my little brother to walk the camino de santiago. I gave him all the travel equipment needed as a gift and hitchhiked with him to france. And then we walked the first day together and pitched our tents at exactly the same spot I did so a year earlier. It's amazing to see how much he grew from that experience and what a wonderful relationship the two of us have now :)

Teach, Learn, Share

the more you share the more you learn

What I Can Share with Hosts

Maybe the one or other travel story, but I guess what I think to be able to share is my interest and passion in questions concerning culture and language.

Countries I’ve Lived In

Canada, France, Germany, Netherlands
