Hello, im Iván Araya a filmmaker and a musician, from Chile. Im 25 years old, relaxed, good mood, very friendly and always interested in learning from other cultures.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Im in couchsurfing because its a great way to travell, to meet some new people and make some cultural exchange. Its always a pity when you dont have the oportunity to travel because of the money, so giving the hands to each other seems to be the right desicion for me. Also i think travelling like this is way better because you know the host and finally get to know more about the culture and the city that you are staying.

Interests

Music, Films, Languages, Arts, Literature, sightseeing, swimming, travelling, cooking and a long list... I like to play instruments a lot (guitar, piano, accordeon, bass, synthetiser) and meet some new people.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to diferent kind of music, psichedelic rock, post rock, blues, jazz, cumbia, dub, progresive rock, stoner, bossa nova, folk, south american music, gypsy music, etc.
Its hard to say about my favourites films, but i can say some film directors i like: Tarkovsky, Fellini, Raul Ruiz, Pato Guzman, Alejandro Jodorowsky, Theo Angelopolous, Godard, Truffaut, Bergman, Herzog, Wim Wenders and Terry Gilliam.
I like to read novels, poetry, essays, scripts, researches, film and art theories. In the moment im reading a lot the books of Roberto Bolaño.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would be happy to teach some things i know, for example: photograpy, music, cooking some nice south american food.
I can share the music from my band and more. Some films recomendations would be cool too.
And i would like to learn about: Music, Films, Cooking, Languages, Culture.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my warm house and some drinks. At home i got a bed you can use and also a couch. You can also take a nice and warm shower, and use the kitchen. My house is humble but very comfortable, beautiful and its in a nice place in Valparaiso. You should not pay for staying, only you have to be sure to bring your own food(we can also buy together and cook) and your good mood. I will be happy to be your host and help you the most i can! You just have to be respectful, with good intentions and take good care of the things im offering you, then we should not have any problem.
